It has been over a month since Henry Cavill announced that he’s departing from his tenure as the famous Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher series. Liam Hemsworth has been announced to be taking over the helm after Henry’s expected departure in Netflix’s The Witcher Season 4. But a recent Instagram message by Henry Cavill as Superman brings terrifying news for his Man of Steel fans. As such, does his impossibility of playing Man of Steel imply that his The Witcher departure could be withdrawn?

Based on the Game, which is again based on the novel of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski, Netflix’s The Witcher ignites the monster hunter Geralt in a series of events. These events seem to revolve around the two other primary characters. One is the infamous witch and also Cavill’s love interest, Yennefer of Vengerberg, starred by the beautiful Anya Chalotra. The other is princess Cirilla played by Freya Allen (Also beautiful).
Why did Henry Cavill leave Netflix’s The Witcher?
- People assumed that Henry Cavill is leaving the show primarily because of his now-set adventures in the DC Cinematic universe.
- After Dwayne The Rock Johnson’s enigmatic efforts in bringing the fan-favorite man of steel back, people assumed he was back for good. Henry Cavill appeared in a cameo appearance at the end of Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson.
The Rock was even very enthusiastic when he took to his social media sites to address the matter. Saying the people wanted Henry Cavill, and for that, he deserves to return as the most revered superhero figure of all time. This may also have to do with Dwayne getting his dream moment of teaming up with a Superman. Especially now that Dwayne himself is a, well.. anti-hero who’s turned Super (good) by the end of Black Adam film.
But there have been some changes
As such, it was evident that being involved with DC again with a potential Man of Steel sequel or a reboot altogether would be tiring for Cavill. And it would also be demanding. The natural call to this was that Henry will leave Geralt after all. But as it seems now from the recent events, maybe Henry Cavill won’t be getting a chance back as Superman.
If this is indeed how the executives dare to take things forward with DC Universe, then things may not be so bleak for the Witcher department. So here’s the thing toned down for you.
Why Henry Cavill is not going to be back as Superman
Peter Safran and James Gun, ever since taking over the rights of looking over the DC Universe have been making tremendous changes. The onset of these changes came with Black Adam’s Superman cameo appearance.
- Henry Cavill announced through his Instagram long back that he shall be back for the deed as Man of Steel. But in a similar turn of events, he has revealed that now that earlier announcement has been turned null and void.

- For things change in the industry, this is what he calls “life”. As such it isn’t something beyond the realm of possibilities. He may even have expected it to happen. These changes are paramount that come part and parcel of all such possible deals involving actors and producers.
Now that Peter and Gun has announced their plans, it will be a movie that may serve as a reboot of the entire Man of Steel franchise. This involves making a movie on a younger Man of Steel. It could also possibly be a prequel to the already existing movies.
So, is Henry Cavill back as Geralt?
Now if he does not do his DC reprisal, it means his original reason for leaving The Witcher is again rendered null and void. Given how fans have been calling Netflix to cancel the series without Cavill, this might just be their shining light. If Peter and Gun do remain stable on their own decision, we expect the Witcher Showrunners to take initiative.
It is now entirely possible that Henry Cavill will be back as The Witcher in Season 4. Although that’s just one obstacle (the Man of Steel one) that’s out of the way. Usually, things are more complicated. For now, we will just have to wait and hope. Because if not, it is terribly sad that Henry shall be leaving both his Geralt of Rivia and Clark Kent roles.
