Netflix suddenly cancels season 3 of Warrior Nun
Netflix is notorious for its decisions about the running time of original shows. According to news outlet TIME, the streaming platform scrapped 92 original shows mid-breath — among them is Warrior Nun’s Season Three.
- The announcement of its cancellation arrived a few weeks later the release of its second season. It was unexpected because the latest season spent three consecutive weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10 TV shows chart.
- Warrior Nun is one of the fan-favorite fantasy TV series on the streaming platform. The series is based on Ben Dunn’s character Warrior Nun Areala from his comic book of the same name (1993). The Netflix original follows Ava Silva (Alba Baptista) as she wakes up in a morgue with an artifact called the “halo” embedded in her back. She now finds herself part of an ancient order and must fight demons.

Fans Protest The Cancellation
Warrior Nun’s devotional fan base, popularly known as Nunkind or Halo Bearers has been protesting the cancellation for the past month. They have taken over the internet with hashtags criticizing and urging Netflix to change its decision.
- They went through all the stages of protest starting with suggesting Netflix rectify their decision with #correctyourmistake on Twitter. Following it with desperate #SaveWarriorNun to protect their favorite series. This specific hashtag gained more than five million tweets as support.
- Later, the fans reached the stage of anger in protest. They promoted #CancelNetflix and uploaded screenshots of their subscription cancellation confirmations.

Extraordinary ways the fans have protested against Warrior Nun 3 cancellation
The dedication of Warrior Nun fans doesn’t limit to Twitter. As of writing this article, more than 112,500 people have signed an online petition on Change to renew the show for a third season. The support is growing with every minute at the speed of 10 signatures. It wouldn’t be long before it becomes one of the most signed petitions on the website.
- The protest wasn’t limited to online either! Fans of the show created ripples of attention with the arrangement of a billboard right outside Netflix’s headquarters in LA. The billboard starting from January 20 is still going to stay mounted for upcoming weeks. Although, Netflix hasn’t responded to any of these pleas.

- However, Sarah, who revealed the previous billboard through Twitter, has announced another billboard to save the series. It is going to be in New York City, playing an animation of the show’s protagonist Ava’s halo glowing. The board will also read the #SaveWarriorNun.
- The billboard will light in Midtown Manhattan every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 4-9 p.m. in February till March 3, 2023.

Will Warrior Nun 3 be possible?
Apart from all the protest putting pressure on Netflix, the rating of the show also calls for a revival of the show from Netflix scrap dungeon. According to GameRant, the second season achieved a 100% rating from critics and 99% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. This is a record-setting high for a Netflix original series which wasn’t even achieved by Squid Game or Money Heist.
- Not only that, but the show also made its space in the New York Times‘ “50 Best TV Shows on Netflix Right Now” and the Washington Post’s “10 Hidden TV Gems You May Have Missed”. The makers of the show credit the public’s positive word-of-mouth for all of their achievements.
- However, there is no guarantee that all of these appeals of fans are enough for Netflix. The streaming platform hasn’t even disclosed its reasons behind the show’s cancellation, hence, the Warrior Nun 3 is still wishful thinking rather than a certain future. In the meantime, fans are lobbying Apple TV+ to help continue the show.
