Suzume After Credits End Credits

Suzume no Tojimari has hit the world in its literal sense of the world. Having witnessed the power of Makoto Shinkaiโ€™s visual storytelling, the world is hefty awaiting whatever he might be cooking next. Although this is amidst news that Shinkai is tired of making films where boys meet girls and falls in love storyline. But thatโ€™s for another day. Today, the primary subject of our contention is simply this โ€“ Does Suzume after credits scene exist?

Suzume No Tojimari or Suzumeโ€™s Locking Doors followed Suzume as she traversed through the major regions of the nation of Japan, doing what the filmโ€™s title tells her to do. Locking doors is the new cool trend. While in her attempts and pursuit, she comes upon a boy named Satou. Of course, as a coming-of-age theme meets a growing boy companion, our young girl falls in love with this older young man.

The filmโ€™s ending is bittersweet and touching and has almost a โ€˜Predestinationโ€™ movie vibe to it. This is a major spoiler by the way. But I do not suppose this gave you much away, so do pardon.

How MCU films have set an after-credit standard that most films now follow

Many viewers wonder if there is a post-credits scene, considering the trend in recent movies. This is specially made true by the dearest endeavors of Marvel films. The MCU is perhaps the leading grade when it comes to films and post-credits.

Although the format that Marvel follows is more of a mid-credit scene. This does not stop the general moviegoer to call it after credits, thatโ€™s for sure. Now, does Suzume have after-credits scenes? Welp, we will reveal the answer, but be warned, spoilers for Suzume after-credits lie ahead. Also, whatโ€™s an internet article if not without its suspense, right?

How Suzume deals with After Credits is kind of nonconventional

To discuss this, we have to inevitably mention the ending sequences of the films. After Suzume and Satou bid farewell, the credits become more prominent on the screen.

AFTER CREDITS SPOILER

  1. We witness brief glimpses of Suzume and her aunt traveling back home through Japan, reuniting with the people they encountered on their journey. The final scene of this segment shows Suzume studying at school after arriving home.
  2. Then, a few months later, Suzume commutes to school in a similar manner to the filmโ€™s opening sequence. This moment could be regarded as a post-credits scene as the credits stop rolling, though the song accompanying the credits continues to play.
  3. Suzume rides her bike along the road, with birds soaring above her, before abruptly halting and smiling. She says, โ€œWelcome back,โ€ and Satou has returned to visit once more. The pair gaze at each other silently, concluding the scene.

Although the protagonists of Your Name did make an appearance in his immediate next big hit. Weathering With Youโ€™s cameos of Mitsuha and Taki were merely that, Cameo.

And to add to that, please know that Suzume also makes no reference to any of the previous characters from Shinkaiโ€™s films. And thus reserves the tradition of cameo only til Weathering With You.

Concluding

Subsequently, the credits roll in a conventional manner, with no additional scenes hidden within them. The preceding scenes are more like the conclusion of Suzumeโ€™s story being shown alongside the credits, rather than a typical post-credits Easter Egg scene.

Sadly, there are no mentions, hints, or teasers of future Makoto Shinkai films like what a MCU film may have done. This is a testimony to the fact that Shinkai is not planning on creating a multiverse of romantic layovers.
