A look at the new Upper Moon Six in Demon SlayerÂ

The Upper Moon demons, known as the Twelve Kizuki, reign as the strongest among Muzan’s subordinates, having remained undefeated for 113 years. However the recent events of the Entertainment District arc saw the demise of the Upper Moon six, Daki and Gyutaro, resulting in vacancies within their ranks.Â
Later in the story, we will see that Muzan Kibutsuji has handpicked Kaigaku to be the Upper Moon Six. Kaigaku was a former member of the Demon Slayer Corps and disciple of the retired thunder Hashira, Jigoro Kuwajima. He was senior to Zenitsu and he could master all other breathing techniques except the first one.
Kaigaku encountered Kokushibo and surrendered to be spared in a moment of desperation. The latter, rather than killing him on the spot, gifted him his blood and transformed Kaigaku into a demon. As a demon, he consumed countless people to gain power, ultimately achieving the rank of new Upper Moon Six at the Infinity Castle.
How powerful is Kaigaku, the new Upper Moon Six?

Kaigaku wields a sword infused with his own flesh and blood, much like Kokushibo, and utilizes the Thunder-Breathing style in combat. He is still young as a demon and hasn’t got the chance to devour as many humans as Gyutaro and Daki. Kaigaki also lacks the experience typically expected of an Upper Moon.Â
So, if compared to both Gyutaro and Daki together, Kaigaku doesn’t stand a chance. However, Muzan recognized Kaigaku’s potential and appointed him as the Upper Moon Six. Given the opportunity to consume a significant number of humans as Daki and Gyutaro, he may become much more powerful than them.
How will Kaigauku’s fate unfold in Demon Slayer?

Kaigaku, an orphan who had to steal for survival, was among the children Gyomei Himejima raised at his temple. However, his selfishness led him to betray his fellow orphans and invite a demon inside the temple.
When Kaigaku left the Demon Slayer Corps and became a demon himself, his master, Jigoro Kuwajima, committed seppuku. Despite this tragic outcome, he showed no remorse and instead insulted their instructor, expressing relief at his passing.
Later, in the Infinity Castle, Zenitsu confronts Kaigaku, who shows no signs of grief over their instructor’s death. A fierce battle ensues, with Kaigaku utilizing various Thunder Breathing techniques against Zenitsu. However, the latter ultimately emerges victorious by beheading Kaigaku with the powerful Seventh Form of Thunder Breathing technique, Honoikazuchi no Kami.
