Satoru Nii’s manga, Wind Breaker, will be adapted into an anime series, as announced on its official website and Twitter account last Thursday, March 30, 2023. The series will be produced by CloverWorks and a teaser visual has also been released.
The above visual provides us with an initial glimpse of how the characters may appear, with a focus on the main character, Haruka Sakura.
The team has not yet disclosed further details. But it’s worth noting that at the previous AnimeJapan event, the manga ranked 9th in the top 10 “Most Wanted Anime Adaptation” list. It’s an interesting fact considering that 102 titles were nominated for the poll.
Wind Breaker could be similar to Tokyo Revengers
- Wind Breaker has been serialized on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket website since January 13, 2021. It is also available in English online through Kodansha USA since March 2022.
- Physical volumes are also available, with the first English volume set to be released on August 1, 2023, by Kodansha USA.
Although the series bears resemblance to “Tokyo Revengers”, it appears to have a much more intense and serious tone. It is certain to include the classic violence that many fans enjoy. Who wouldn’t love that?

The storyline of Wind Breaker revolves around Haruka Sakura, who places great value on strength and has no regard for weakness.
He has recently enrolled at Furin High School, a school known for its unruly students who are revered solely for their fighting abilities. The students use their brawling skills to protect their town from outsiders who seek to harm it.
