Perhaps the most awaited ending for any series ever is Attack on Titan: Final Season Part 3. We give it to Mappa to create a final season and then further divide it into three parts. Rumors had already brewed that the final part may be a feature movie, something similar to what Haikyuu is set to do to end its story. As of now the main question that looms over every fan is this – Will Attack on Titan anime follow the manga’s original ending in Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3?
How likely is it for Attack on Titan to have an anime original ending?

The final chapter of the Attack on Titan Manga by Hajime Isayama hit release on April 2021. Ever since there have been mixed but mostly negative responses to Isayama’s decision for the ending. Without spoiling what it was, we can attest to the readers the validity of the claim by asking you to simply scroll to through any youtube video on the ending.
- At such a point one is even tempted to ask, is it likely that any series which has made the world shake is bound to face the same destiny?
- We all know just how badly the ending of Game of Thrones was taken by the audience and even the critics.
- But on the other hand, we have other masterpieces like Breaking Bad whose ending was extravagantly well-received.
Why great series sometimes end in a ‘terrible’ ending

- One of the ways to tackle this is to see that as the story rises in popularity it moves away from being just the story of the author. There comes pending approvals and opinions of a large valley of corporate forces.
- Hajime Isayama himself, if left alone, may have procured a perfect ending for his own story. But as it seems, Isayama may have felt pressured by the pressuring need to produce a world-ending ending for what is considered one of the greatest animanga stories ever written. The pressure may have blocked his creativity.

Ever since he wrote his ending, his fears may have manifested in reality given how many fans were disappointed. It makes sense that creativity best flows when there is an unimagined stretch of freedom and space. It isn’t unusual for creators to feel what they describe as ‘writer’s block’ or ‘creative block’ when pressured by their bosses to finish creative work. Heck, this phenomenon can be observed universally in anyone who has ever been pressured to finish creative work.
Hajime Isayama’s overseas visit to Anime NYC 2022

The Shingeki no Kyojin author has expressed multiple times about being negative about fans’ reception. Ever since Isayama published the final chapter, he has been pressed by the fans’ response. However, a change of light happened in his recent appearance at Anime NYC 2022. The organizers pleaded with the attendees to be careful of their behavior.
- Anime NYC 2022 requested fans to not be sentimental and offend the author. Luckily, Hajime Isayama was received tremendously well.
- So much so that he later said in a message that he was always worried about how fans will talk to him about his ending. After Isayama heard from international fans about his first overseas appearance ever, it seems Isayama has found a long lost elation. He may finally have found some confidence back that his ending is approved
Attack on Titan anime-only ending isn’t impossible yet unconfirmed
As of now, MAPPA has not confirmed if they will change the ending. Even if they do, they will probably not announce it beforehand exclusively.
The previous times we have seen a major anime deflate from the manga story have often been when the manga itself didn’t end.
- Similar to how the Game of Thrones series writer had to wrap the series up, given George R.R. Martin may take another decade to finish his books. The writers of the first Fullmetal Alchemist anime took an anime original route to the ending.
- It was great but perhaps wasn’t as phenomenal as the manga ending. Later the creators later rebooted the entire series and called it Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. FMABÂ still remains one of the top anime appreciated by fans globally.
Concluding

With Attack on Titan, the only way we see the anime changing the ending is if Hajime Isayama himself approves of it, or pushes for it. It is not completely impossible. Given how Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 adopted a stretched version of the manga’s pre-climax storyline. Wondering what they did? Well simply told they only adopted the latest regrouping of Marley and Eldians against Floch’s Yeager restorationist battle.
Thank You Isayama. Major respect. pic.twitter.com/rrMJoxTnAV

The final battle still remains one against Eren Yeager himself. Everyone expected the series to end in Final Season Part 2. As of now, everyone again thinks Part 3 is supposedly the ending, but depending upon how the episodes progress, we will just have to have faith upon MAPPA decides to go forward with this.
