Re:Zero Manga adapts the live novel’s 5th Story Arc; How the adaptations work explained

The world has been nothing short of astonished by the horrid portrayal of the otherwise happy-go-fantasy that the Isekai Genre usually is in Re:Zero. On Saturday, the official Twitter account for the Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- franchise announced that Tappei Nagatsuki’s fifth arc, “Stars that Engrave History,” will be adapted into a manga.

  • The Re: Zero franchise boasts an expansive universe comprising of numerous light novels and manga adaptations. Despite its vastness, the series is becoming increasingly accessible to fans.
  • As of now, there are 27 volumes of light novels, with the 28th set to release in December. Yen Press has obtained the licensing rights for the series and has so far released up to volume 17. Volume 18 is scheduled to hit stores in early 2022, and each novel is available for about $15 at most bookstores.

How the Re:Zero Manga adaptation of the Light Novels work

In addition to the light novels, there’s a manga adaptation that splits the story into distinct chapters. Each chapter is illustrated by a different artist and named A Day in the Capital, A Week at the Mansion, Truth of Zero, and The Sanctuary and the Witch of Greed.

Yen Press is also in charge of licensing the manga, and they are currently publishing the final books of The Sanctuary and the Witch of Greed chapters. Volume 2 was launched in November, and volume 3 is slated to come out in December.

What is the Re:Zero light novel’s 5th Arc all about?

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu’s fifth arc, Stars that Engrave History also titled Reikishi wo Kizamu Hoshiboshi, is a continuation of Arc 4, The Everlasting Contract, and is followed by Arc 6, The Corridor of Memories.

  • The arc’s first chapter was initially published on September 17, 2014, with the final chapter released on August 13, 2015. It spans eighty-one chapters and three interludes in the Web Novel, and it has been adapted into five light novel volumes.
  • The manga is set to launch this summer on the Comic Alive+ label of the ComicWalker website. The ongoing manga adaptation of the fourth arc, “The Everlasting Contract,” is titled Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Chapter 4: The Sanctuary and the Witch of Greed and is drawn by Haruno Atori and YÅ« Aikawa.

Chapter 4 corresponds to volumes 10 to 15 of the original light novels and was published in Kadokawa’s Comic Alive magazine in 2019. Yen Press has released five volumes of Chapter 4, which amounts to the 23rd overall volume of all Re:Zero manga adaptations of the main light novel story.

Meanwhile, Chapter 1 and Chapter 3 were adapted by Daichi Matsuse, and Chapter 2 was adapted by Makoto Fugetsu, with all three arcs released by Yen Press.

  • The Re:Zero 5th Arc story follows Anastasia, who extends an invitation to the Emilia, Crusch, and Felt Camps to join her for a gathering in Priestella’s Watergate City.
  • However, upon their arrival, Sin Archbishops of the Witch Cult emerge and take over the city, compelling Subaru to bring together all the camps to vanquish them and free the city from their malevolent grip.
