Eustass Kidd had an interesting development alongside Luffy as one of the prime Supernovas. Having joined Luffy hand to hand against his majestic fight with the Four Emperors’ Kaidou and Big Mom. In what has been undoubtedly one of the biggest chapters of the series, One Piece Chapter 1079 sees Shanks finally displaying his power. And my oh my is his power impeccable. Is Eustass Kid dead in One Piece Manga?
What happened in One Piece Chapter 1079?

One Piece Manga Chapter 1079 sees Eustass Kid head to Elbaf after his successes in Wano. This time he’s determined to take on Shanks once again. Despite having lost his arm in a previous attempt without even reaching Shanks. This time, Kid believes he is better prepared for whatever may come.
Shanks, using advanced observation haki, saw the damage that Kid caused with his reckless shooting and decided to take serious action. The outcome might have been different if someone like Law, who is more passive and rational, had been there.
Due to Kid’s confidence, Shanks uses one of Roger’s techniques, “Divine Departure,” to knock out both Kid and Killer. So, is Eustass Kid dead in One Piece Chapter 1079?

However, the show-stealer was still when Shanks’ crew members and giants, Dorry and Broggy then use “Hakoku Sovereignty” to destroy their ship, Victoria Punk. Having swung both of their weapons (which are as tall and large as a building structure) in a simultaneous motion, and sending out intense Haki along with the weapons’ force which propels the air (And everything along with it), the Giants decimate Kidd pirates.
About Eustass Kid
- In One Piece Chapter 498, a character known as Eustass Kid appeared as one of the Eleven Supernovas. Kid caught attention by having a bounty larger than Luffy’s, even after Luffy and crew destroyed Enies Lobby.
After that, little was known about Kid until rumors surfaced that he had clashed with two Emperors, lost an arm to the Red Hair Pirates, and escaped Big Mom’s territory with a road poneglyph copy.
Kid’s character got good development in the Wano arc, leading up to his defeat of Big Mom alongside Law. It seemed like Kid was redeeming himself until he impulsively ventured into danger, risking everything.
How much do we know of Shanks and his power really?

- Ever since we have known Shanks, we have never really known him. The only moments we have of Shanks’s power are countable in the number of fingers we have. The earliest was when he took on some nobody Dacoit. But well, that was nothing.
- The time when he first displayed his use of Conquerer’s Haki? Or the time he stopped Marineford War with the tip of his fingertip (despite not having an arm). This time, the Red-haired did not shy away from the usual countenance. Shanks follows his usual principles: talk first and fight only if necessary. This was evident in his fight with Kid.

- But it isn’t that Shanks is shown to be a ruthless villain. And this was made pretty evident in One Piece Red. This film was where we found that Shanks was actually the one who saved Uta’s village but took the blame from the Government instead. Given that these events are canon, the Red-Haired is actually a kind person.
- One like Luffy, although quite level headed as well as he is red (headed). The Red Haired Pirate, an emperor, sent a message to Kid and his crew, offering them a chance to surrender their poneglyphs and avoid a fight. Kid refused and prepared to attack.
About the status of Eustass Kid

- Kid was ultimately knocked out and dealt a fatal blow by Broggy and Dory, leading to the destruction of their ships and the apparent obliteration of the Kid Pirates.
- However, since most of the members, including Kid and Killer, had eaten devil fruits, their fate was sealed once their ships were gone.
The narrator made it clear that it was the end of the line for the pirates, suggesting that Kid might be dead. With the final text on the Manga panel saying something along the lines of “And with this, the Kid Pirates ended”.
Shanks and the giants were not holding back in their attacks. As Oglix from AnimeHunch puts it – it’s possible that Oda intends for only one red-haired pirate to survive in the end. However, with how things are, I bet high gold that Kid will survive.
