Demon Slayer S3 shows Tanjiro battling upper-rank demons in the Swordsmith village. As he gets closer to Muzan Kibutsuji, the question is whether he would be turned into a demon by Kibutsuji himself.
While we assess the trajectory of events that lead us to this conclusive remark, we need to be careful with how we relate things. The possibility of Tanjiro Kamado’s transformation into a demon is high and expected, but not entirely possible. This is based on the advancements so far, as cannot conclude a plausible explanation with the limited information at hand.
Will Tanjiro turn into a demon for Nezuko?
Tanjiro has always strived for Nezuko’s transformation back into a human. He has protected her with his life and even got her accepted as a member of the Demon Slayer Corps. While we see that there has been progress in this regard, we also see that a solution is nowhere near to be seen.
Lady Tamayo has been helping Tanjiro find an antidote for Nezuko and a way to defeat Kibutsuji Muzan. Blood samples of the demons Tanjiro has defeated have been transferred to Lasy Tamayo. This is a hopeful fact that Nezuko might turn back into a human soon.
But if that does not happen according to their plan of action, what would Tanjiro do? Would he turn into a demon to join his sister Nezuko? We are yet to discover any possibilities as such. The transformation of Tanjiro for his sister is a feeble possibility. We have to wait for any progress on Lady Tamayo’s medical research to conclude this.
Tanjiro and Muzan: Will the Demon King turn him into a demon like Kokushibo?
Muzan Kibutsuji turned Kokushibo into a demon. It is believed that Kokushibo was once a demon slayer and also the twin brother of the strongest demon slayer Yoriichi Tsugikuni. The turning of Kokushibo into a demon is still not shown in the anime, but upcoming seasons are sure to give us a glimpse into those episodes of the Sengoku era.
While Kokushibo had the fire-breathing and is apparently the strongest demon after Muzan Kibutsuji, the question is whether Tanjiro would be the next demon slayer on the list.
Tanjiro is a thorough and just person. He is kind and compassionate. Convincing him into becoming a demon would be a near impossibility. But there are chances that Tanjiro might trade this for the well-being of his comrades and Nezuko.
Tanjiro and Muzan have a long history that dates back centuries. Therefore, there is a possibility that Muzan might reach out to Tanjiro with a proposal. The fear is that Muzan might forcibly turn him into a demon. We will only unravel these truths as the anime progresses.
What will happen if Tanjiro turns into a demon?
After Nezuko turned into a demon, we have seen how she resisted attacking humans. She has grown to accept humans as allies and even protect them. This shows that even after turning into a demon there are chances that a bit of humanness persists in the heart. The innate humanness of a demon differentiates them from a killer.
Nezuko is an apt example of this. Therefore, we can expect that when the time comes for Tanjiro to turn into a demon he will be helped by his comrades and Nezuko to regain his human self.

The fact that Tanjiro has such a pure heart is one reason that keeps him away from the possibility of turning into a demon. Whether he is being led into becoming a demon is a different question altogether.
We will only find answers to that once the anime progresses. But we can hope that the demon slayer with the fire and water breathing will be a demon for the good of humankind. And if not, then the strongest demon slayer who will defeat Muzan Kibutsuji.
