Nike Unveils Newest Kobe 8 Protro Sneakers | Release date, Price, and Where to Buy

Nike Kobe Haloi Protro 8

The Black Mamba lives on! To those who loved the Kobe shoes, we just have wonderful news for you! Nike had just unveiled the newest basketball sneakers to the Kobe line – the Kobe 8 Protro ‘Halo’. The announcement made waves on the internet and everyone is going absolutely nuts and excited. If you are one of them, find out more details about the upcoming Kobe kicks.

Nike reveals the Kobe 8 ‘Halo’ Protro’s first look to the public

A day after Vanessa Bryant teased the new set of Kobe 8s, Nike announced on their official Twitter account what the new Kobe Protro 8 ‘Halo’ would be. The shoe will feature a triple white colorway and of course the iconic Mamba logo on the tongue. Furthermore, Vanessa Bryant reportedly helped design the sneakers. The initial release date for the Kobe 8 Protro Halo is slated to be on “Mamba Day”, August 23, 2023, which is also in celebration of the late Kobe’s 45th birthday. According to Nike, this is an updated version of the fan-favorite Kobe 8 Protro that was released back in 2012. With this, the Kobe line marks its second official shoe release following the Kobe 4 Protro ‘Mambacitas”, which dropped back in May.

What’s new?

The new Kobe 8 Protro still manages to keep the original design while also enhancing its performance. As mentioned, the shoe boasts an overall triple white colorway, shiny black colors on the outsole, the Mamba logo on the tongue, and the famous Swoosh logo on the upper. Moreover, this set of fresh kicks reportedly switched to the all-new Nike react foam, replacing the Lumarlon material which was used in the 2012 edition. According to Vanessa Bryant, the Kobe 8 Protro ‘Halo’ “will be one of many Kobe 8 “Halo” styles coming soon”. This is in line with the initiative to create more Kobe 8 Protros in the near future every Mamba Day.

As we all remember, Kobe Bryant joined Nike in 2003 after his time with Adidas. Since then, their partnership conceived tons of amazing basketball shoes. Shortly after the Black Mamba retired in 2016, he struck another 5-year deal with the shoe brand. Unfortunately, the basketball icon passed away in 2020 after an accident, along with his daughter, Gigi. A year later, in 2021, Kobe’s contract with Nike would expire. It took almost a year for Nike and Vanessa Bryant to make a deal they can both agree on, but eventually, both camps found a suitable deal in 2022.

Nike Kobe 8 Proto ‘Halo’ Price and Where to Buy

According to TMZ Sports, the new Nike Kobe 8 Protro ‘Halo’ will be priced at around $180 for adults and around $80 for the kids’ version. Obviously, the best way to acquire these shoes is through the Nike app/website if you are shopping online or through Nike physical stores worldwide.

But wait, there’s more! Adidas is also bringing back the Kobe Crazy 8

As a rookie in the NBA, Kobe Bryant would be one of Adidas’ athlete partners. However, their relationship would be sour after a few years. Because of that, Kobe would take his feet someplace else, and that was when he signed with Nike. Three years after his passing, Adidas will be reviving one of Kobe’s first signature shoes, the Crazy 8 (formerly known as KB8). The shoe has reportedly been released in Asia as early as August 1 but will be dropped on August 26th in the U.S.
