Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 12 runs. Here are the highlights of the match.
SRH seeking the first win of the season won the toss and elected to bowl first. Starting off the innings SRH did well by taking early wickets. The all-rounder Washington Sundar, took the crucial wicket of Quinton De Cock and Evin Lewis in the powerplay. Manish Pandey is not in form this IPL and lost his wicket to Shepherd. KL Rahul, the captain, and Deepak Hooda made a good partnership which saved the Super Giants by scoring a low target. Both made a brilliant half-century. Hooda made a fabulous 51 runs and departed trying to hit a big shot. KL Rahul scored 68 runs and gave his wicket to Natrajan in the 19th over reducing LSG to 144/5. However, the young gun Aayush Badoni was there to handle the innings. Badoni and Holder took the LSG to a good target of 169/7.

LSG’s star bowler Avesh Khan took the captain, Kane Williamson in the 4th over making a good start in the powerplay. In the next over, he took Abhishek Sharma. Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Makram tried to make a partnership but Makram had to go towards the pavilion due to a fabulous catch taken by KL Rahul at covers. Tripathi (44 runs) was looking in great form but threw his wicket in the 14th over reducing SRH to 95/4. Pooran and Sundar were still on the crease and forming a good partnership between them. But Avesh Khan strike again in the 18th over and took the crucial wicket of Pooran (34 runs), in the next ball he took Abdul Samad pushing SRH to 143/6. But Shepherd came and kept the hope of winning the game for SRH. In the last over, SRH required 16 runs, and Holder didn’t give any chance to batsmen to hit boundaries.
