NBA: Will Tyler Herro play for Miami Heat vs Celtics in game 4? | Injury update

Tyler Herro Injury Updates May 22 2023

The Miami Heat and their fans eagerly await news regarding the availability of young shooting guard Tyler Herro for Game 4 against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. With the series almost over, the question on everyone’s mind is whether Herro will be able to take the court and provide a much-needed boost to the Heat’s offence. His presence could be a game-changer in this crucial matchup, but concerns loom over his recent injury. Let’s discuss all the recent updates on Tyler Herro’s injury and determine if he will be available for the next games.

Tyler Herro suffered a hand injury after diving for a loose ball during the first-round matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks earlier this month

Game 1, the Miami Heat faced the 1st-seed Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the 2023 playoffs. With less than a minute left in the second quarter, Heat guard Tyler Herro dove for a loose ball but failed to take it from Grayson Allen. Soon after, Herro was spotted clutching his hand, seemingly in pain.

The former Sixth Man of the Year stayed in the game until the end of the first half and even attempted to shoot a three. The Heat found out that Herro suffered a fractured hand. After the incident, the young guard recalled what happened on the floor that resulted in his injury:

“I watched the video and still don’t know where I hit my hand. I probably shouldn’t have dove into it, but I was trying to create some energy. We were on the road in my hometown. Just trying to play hard.”

Since then, the 23-year-old basketball player has yet to play a game in the playoffs. He is currently the team’s third-highest scorer and probably the second option in scoring behind Jimmy Butler. Herro averaged an impressive 20.1 points, 4.2 assists, and 5.4 rebounds per game in the regular season. But, even without him, the Heat are defying all odds as they continue their impressive rally in the postseason. They are currently 3-0 against the Celtics in the Conference Finals and are just 1 game away from reaching the NBA Finals once again.

Tyler Herro’s injury update: Will he play against the Celtics in game 4?

Initially, it was reported that Tyler Herro would need at least four to six weeks for his hand to recover completely. After his surgery, he was required to wear a brace for protection.

But, just recently, the said brace was removed, and Herro was spotted dribbling the ball with his hands. But, the team’s medical staff will not allow him to make shots just yet. That being said, Tyler Herro is likely not playing in game 4 against the Boston Celtics. As of now, his recovery is the top priority, and the Heat would not risk further damaging his hand. But, with the previously reported timeline for his return, Herro’s recovery could be right on schedule. It has already been about a month since he injured his hand. We’ll see his impact on the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals against the Denver Nuggets (probably).
