Will Taylor Swift Release a New Album? Reputation (Taylor's Version) Theories

Taylor Swift just held her 13th international and the last date of her The Eras Tour at Allianz Parque stadium in São Paulo, Brazil, on Sunday, November 26. Her international concert tour series will be on a break and resume in February 2024. However, amid her performance before the concert break, fans were clamoring for the release of Reputation (Taylor’s Version), though they were only treated to the live performance of the songs Say Don’t Go and It’s Time Go. So, will Taylor release a new album soon?

Taylor Swift’s Surprise Performance of Say Don’t Go and It’s Time Go

Taylor Swift arranged a themed set of surprise songs for the last leg of her The Eras Tour this 2023. And while many expected the official announcement of the release of Reputation (Taylor’s Version), she performed the live renditions of Say Don’t Go and It’s Time to Go for the first time ever.

The pop giant performed Say Don’t Go, which she co-wrote with Diane Warren and was just released in October as a vault track in 1989 (Taylor’s Version), live on guitar, followed by a piano performance of It’s Time to Go, which she co-wrote with Aaron Dessner and was part of the deluxe version of her 2020 album Evermore.

For starters, Taylor has been performing two surprise songs every time she performs for The Eras Tour, trying her best not to repeat any of those tracks.

“There’s some songs that I still really, really wanna play,” she said during Sunday’s show.

However, Travis Kelce’s girlfriend revealed that she planned to reset and “make all the songs fair game” when she begins the tour again in 2024.

The Expectations Surrounding the Release of Taylor Swift’s Reputation (Taylor’s Version)

Before the Sunday night concert ended, there were theories that Taylor Swift would officially announce the release of Reputation (Taylor’s Version), considering it would be the last part of The Eras Tour this 2023.

The expectations even grew when the award-winning star seemingly said “Rep” instead of Eras on stage when she introduced her acoustic set. “You’ve gotten in my head,” she explained.

Sadly, the much-awaited Reputation (Taylor’s Version) didn’t happen.

Taylor Swift’s Reputation (Taylor’s Version) Theories

So far, Taylor has performed 66 shows since The Eras Tour started on March 17 in Glendale, Arizona. And as Reputation was her sixth album, many thought it would finally be announced this time. Of the 65 shows, 12 were held in the U.S., and the 13th concert was held in Brazil. It has been known that the pop star has been using this number, which is her favorite, to drop some hints and clues about her next release.

During her performances in São Paolo, she performed Now That We Don’t Talk from 1989 (Taylor’s Version, Innocent from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), Safe & Sound from Red (Taylor’s Version), and Untouchable from Fearless (Taylor’s Version). So, what’s left? Her debut album and Reputation.

Add to that Taylor’s dance moves during the performance of Midnight Rain on Saturday that fans quickly recognized from Reputation tours and videos; many couldn’t help but believe a new album would soon be announced. It’s also good to note that the light-up bracelets seemed to show a snake moving through the crowd, while the backup dancers used black heart emojis, which appeared to be another hint.

However, despite these hints and clues, no Reputation (Taylor’s Version) was announced. Though this broke a lot of fans’ hearts, The Eras Tour hasn’t concluded yet, and the series of live performances, not to mention more surprises, will continue when the concert tour resumes in February 2024 in Japan; there’s still hope. Who knows, the much-awaited release of this new album may finally be announced then.
