It has been almost two weeks since Julian Sands went missing in Mount Baldy. Police are still on a lookout with rescue efforts being accelerated. A week ago, his car was found, and his phone’s last signal came to a couple of days after his disappearance.
- As of now, air search is being carried out in full flow according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Ground search has been halted frequently due to icy weather conditions.

- Air search efforts are amplified with the help of California Highway Patrol which carries a device that can detect matching reflective material, electronics, and in some cases, credit cards.
Mount Baldy situation
Apart from his film and television acting career, Julian Sands is a dedicated mountaineer. He went missing on 13 January 2023 while hiking in Mount Baldy, California. It is located in the San Gabriel Mountains northeast of Los Angeles.
- The Baldy Bowl trail is over 4.5 miles long and the summit is the highest in the San Gabriel Mountains. The area is prone to avalanches and the recent storms could have triggered a few.
- Originally called Mount San Antonio, Mount Baldy has been extremely dangerous territory in the past month even for experienced hikers. The Sheriff’s Department has received over a dozen missing complaints in January alone.

Julian Sands’ family has been completely involved in the search and rescue mission for the actor. His sons have joined the ground search along with the authorities and other experienced climbers.

Another hiker named Jin Chung had gone missing in the same area but was rescued after 48 hours. Despite valiant efforts from the authorities, Julian Sands remains missing, and his life status is still in question.
