Rachel Berry is one of the protagonists of Glee. She was portrayed by Lee Michele in the popular television adaptation and soon became a love-hate or love-to-hate character. The credit for this goes to her innate nature of pursuing success, sometimes at the cost of others.
However, it isn’t her tunnel focus that has garnered her this position but rather the effect that she has on other characters. In pursuit of her solos, and dreams she makes decisions that are going to harm her contemporaries such as Tina, Sunshine, and Kurt Hummel.

Another reason for this title is that she doesn’t face many consequences for her actions. Even if she hurts people to the point that they suffer gravely she seems to get away with it by script’s rationalizing it as unintended mistakes or actions out of kindness gone wrong. This particular trait is associated with the antagonist, which makes her one of the hated characters.
Despite this, her ranking on the list of most hated TV characters of all time is a result of it going viral. When many netizens saw that she was close to the top 10 they joined hands in making her top it. It wouldn’t be surprising if by tonight she has climbed a couple more spots on the list- that’s just how the netizens’ humor works sometimes and doesn’t mean that she is hated by all.
