Conor “The Notorious” McGregor had a night to remember, not on the octagon, but during the NBA Finals. The UFC legend is notorious (no pun intended) for his controversial status and sometimes overdoing things. And, last night was no different. McGregor was in attendance in game 4 of the Finals to promote his product on-air. While he was doing so, Heat fans were booing the 34-year-old icon. Then, moments later, after showcasing his brand, Conor McGregor punched the Miami Heat and knocked him out immediately. But, why did Conor punch the mascot in the game?
Conor McGregor was actually promoting his brand’s sponsorship with the Miami Heat
Former UFC champion Conor McGregor went courtside to the 2023 NBA Finals to reveal his latest brand, TIDL Sport, a pain-relief spray company heralded by the fighter himself. He was promoting the brand as well as informing that they will be making a partnership with the Miami Heat franchise. It was a timeout during the third quarter and McGregor had ample time to promote the said brand. Unsurprisingly, fans were booing The Notorious while he was telling about his company. However, the fiasco did not end there.

The announcement also involved an on-court skit that will feature somewhat of a friendly fight between Conor McGregor and the Miami Heat mascot Burnie. McGregor donned a red jumpsuit while Burnie was wearing a boxer’s robe while waiting on the corner. In a shocking twist, McGregor knocked out Burnie after a hard punch in the face. The 34-year-old MMA fighter even added an unnecessary second punch while Burnie was already lying on the floor. Fans were furious and they were jeering and booing McGregor even more which forced the celebrity to walk out of the game.
A few hours later, the mascot was reportedly sent to the ER after the infamous game 4 punch from McGregor
McGregor’s punch may have been too hard that it led to the man behind Burnie being sent to the hospital. According to The Athletic, the mascot was immediately given pain medications and was sent home afterward. As of now, it was informed that the man is already doing well.

What’s going to happen with Conor McGregor’s partnership with the Miami Heat?
The Miami Heat’s official Twitter account quietly deleted recent posts about Conor McGregor following the game 4 incident. That being said, we’re unsure of what is next between McGregor and the Heat franchise moving forward.
Meanwhile, McGregor hasn’t fought for almost two years now. The last time he stood on the octagon was back in July 2021, when he broke his foot against Dustin Poirier. Despite that, he has not yet retired and is still active in the UFC. He has received notoriety mostly for being the villain. Aside from being a champion, his status as one of the most hated and controversial fighters made him extremely popular.
On the other hand, the Miami Heat will be back in Denver to face the Nuggets for game 5 of the NBA Finals
The Denver Nuggets are on the verge of winning their first-ever NBA Championship after taking a 3-1 lead against the Jimmy Butler-led Miami Heat. The Heat will try to recover and make another historic comeback. Although the odds are against them, nothing is impossible. Can they replicate what LeBron James and Cleveland Cavaliers did in the 2016 NBA Finals?
