The musical actress Park Soo Ryun, best known for acting in Snowdrop K-drama, tragically passed away on the afternoon of June 11. According to the statements of her parents, she fell from a flight of stairs while returning home and slipped into a coma, ultimately passing away.
Park Soo Ryun, born Park Young-In, debuted as a musical actress in 2018 with the original musical ‘Il Tenor‘ and appeared in acclaimed musical shows, ‘Finding Kim Jong-Wook,’ ‘Siddhartha,’ and ‘The Day We Loved.‘ However, she remains famous for her appearance in Snowdrop, starring Jung Hae-in and BLACKPINK Jisoo.

The late actress Park Soo Ryun born on May 2, 1994, in Suwon, South Korea, was fascinated with acting from an early age. She decided to pursue a career in the entertainment industry in her teenage years and debuted as a musical actress while doing various part-time jobs to support herself.
- After attaining success on the stage, she furthered her career on the small screen with the popular K-drama Snowdrop. Soo Ryun acted in the role of a university student alongside BLACKPINK Jisoo, who also debuted with this K-drama. Soo Ryun thanked her co-stars for their support through her social media.
- Apart from these, Soo Ryun also shared a couple of covers from musicals through her YouTube channel. The channel was created in September 2020, and she shared her first video in April 2021, where she covered a lullaby from the musical 여신님이 보고 계셔 (literal translation: The Goddess is Watching).
Park Soo Ryun’s family decided to donate her organs
As per the Korean news outlet OSEN, Park Soo Ryun fell from the stairs and slipped into a coma. Medical professionals later declared her brain dead, so her bereaved family decided to donate her organs.
- Her mother said in a Soompi report, ‘Only her brain is unconscious, but her heart is still beating. There must be someone who is in desperate need of organs. As her mother and father, we will be comforted by the thought that her heart has gone to someone and is beating.” Her funeral was organized at Suwon Hospital on the morning of June 13.
Soo Ryun’s friends and colleagues’ tributes to her
Park Soo Ryun’s fellow actors and fans shared tributes through social media. Her co-star Kim Do-Hyun who starred with her in the musical ‘Finding Kim Jong-Wook‘ posted a tribute on his Instagram. He shared his condolences, calling her brighter than any stars and hoping that she is smiling in heaven.
Actor Lee Won-Jang also uploaded images of their joint works expressing shock, “Young-in, is the news about you? I still can’t believe it.” He remembered the times they worked together and shared that Soo Ryun always worked the hardest while smiling.
- Moreover, actress Yoon Joo, who received a liver transplant in 2021, shared condolences sharing the pain of her family, who must have had a hard time deciding to donate organs. “I read an article about Park Soo Ryun’s family deciding on organ donation, my heart hurts for them.” She said and shared wishes for her peace and happiness.
