Kaila Estrada is recently going viral, and it’s for good reasons. Relatively a new actress from a family of stars, the 27-year-old is now making a name for herself in the local entertainment scene. Many have lauded her for her incredible acting in the Philippine TV series Linlang, matching if not surpassing that of her mom, Janice de Belen. So, get to know more of Kaila as she makes her way to be the new fan-favorite TV antagonist.
Kaila Estrada: Her Humble Beginnings and Breakthrough
Kaila Estrada is making her own mark in the Philippine entertainment business. Sure, she’s the daughter of two veteran stars, Janice and John Estrada, but she has successfully escaped their shadows, making herself known for her great talents and acting.
Starting in the business in 2013, she was a ramp model for the fashion designer Randy Ortiz and became an ambassadress for SM Youth in 2018. In 2021, she signed a contract with Star Magic and started her journey in the world of acting.
Her first project was the 2021 mystery drama Viral Scandal. And though she told Metro Style that she needed to audition for the role of Raven Ramones twice, she still received heaps of praise from viewers and critics alike, with some admiring how “crisp” she delivered her lines.
From there, she did the hybrid-narrative reality show The Chosen One, an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya in 2022, which won the Best Single Drama or Telemovie/Anthology at the Asian Academy Creative Awards, and another three-part special for the now-defunct TV drama.
2023 proves to be a big year for Kaila. After joining Joan Constancia and Chie Filomeno in the web series Love Bites Season 2, she was cast in Amazon Prime Video’s Fit Check: Confessions of an Ukay Queen. Then, in October, she became a part of ABS-CBN’s two major drama series, Linlang and Can’t Buy Me Love. The latter is now dominating its timeslot with its high ratings, while she has been receiving widespread acclaim for her role as Sylvia Lualhati in the former.

What Scenes Made Kaila Estrada Viral?
After two years in the business as an actress, Kaila Estrada is already making waves online. She recently went viral for her scenes with Kim Chiu and the Philippines Diamond Star herself, Maricel Soriano.
In Linlang, Kaila plays the role of Sylvia, a wife who has caught her husband, Alex (JM de Guzma), having an affair with his brother’s wife, Juliana (Chiu). As she starts as a martyred woman who’s trying to understand her husband and gain sympathy from the viewers for that, she has reached her breaking point and confronts her husband, his mistress, and even her mother-in-law.

In the series’ episodes nine and ten, she quickly went viral after facing Juliana with rage. Many praised her acting skills, transforming from a classy martyr wife to a mad woman very quickly. Many also lauded her ability to keep up with veteran actresses’ acting skills.
Alternatively, her one-on-one scene with Soriano also received praise, and some even came from her fellow stars. Kim praised her for being great, while Christian Bables called her a “brilliant actress.” “Her brilliance in acting is so genuine,” he continued.

Kaila may have inherited her great acting skills from her parents, but it cannot be denied that she has been putting her own touch into it and working hard for it. It’s clearly her own, putting her heart and soul into every scene she makes and every line she delivers. And by the looks of it, she doesn’t need her parents’ influence and fame to make her one of the greatest stars of this generation.
As her mom’s movie, Tiyanak, gave birth to the phrase “Anak ni Janice,” which means Janice’s child in English, Kaila has proven she’s indeed her mother’s daughter and more.
