Heardle - Gameplay

Heardle is the Wordle version for Music lovers. Omakase Studios created this daily music guessing game in which songs come from the music app SoundCloud. If it’s still not obvious, the music naming game is derived from the word “Heard” (to perceive or become aware of by the ear) + “Wordle“.

Game History

Omakase (in Japanese, it means ‘to entrust’) Studios released the Heardle on the last 26th of February 2022, a couple of months after the Wordle‘s popularity. The game quickly picked up music fans.

The game might seem like an ordinary music game out of Wordle. Well… it is. But, it has some effects on music apps. According to the analysis of How Music Charts, the music featured on a particular day increases the number of songs played in music apps although concluded that it might not be enough to become a marketing tool for songs and artists.

HOW TO PLAY

Heardle has almost the same mechanics as Wordle. But instead of guessing a word, players have to guess a soundtrack, powered by Sound Cloud.

Unfortunately, the sound cloud has some regional restrictions in playing some tracks. As an example, some tracks available in the US might not be available in the UK. In that case, players need a VPN to access the soundtracks.

For those who have a VPN or are in a country where sound cloud restrictions are not an issue, here is how you play the game. (Well, players can still guess the song but that’s like trying to walk without limbs.). This one is pretty straightforward.

  • Go to Heardle
  • Play the short soundtrack. The soundtrack will play incrementally with a maximum of 6 guesses and a total track sound of 16 seconds for the last try. Guess 1st – 1s, 2nd- 2s, 3rd – 4s, 4th – 7s, 5th – 11s, 6th – 16s.
  • Start Guessing what the song is.
    • If the player’s guess is wrong, skip Guessing or submit Guess will give you an extended track to listen to.
      • Red X – means the wrong song
      • Yellow X – means wrong song, the same artist
