On Thursday morning, emergency responders were dispatched to a distressed call from a Porter Ranch residence. According to the reports they reached the resident at 10:34 a.m. and found two toddlers in the pool. The four-year-old twins, whose identity is now revealed showed no response following the drowning accident at Porter Ranch resident. Attending paramedics shifted the twins to a nearby hospital and provided all the necessary life-saving aid.
The Mayor’s Crisis Responsive Team arrived to assist with the distressed call. Officials investigated the incidents that lead to the tragic drowning at Porter Ranch pool for foul play.
Police described the incident as a ‘tragic accident’ after one of the twins was announced dead by the hospital. LAFD Captain Erik Scott also urged people to enhance pool safety in light of the tragedy.
The Coroner’s office identifies the Porter Ranch Twins with the report confirming the death of one of the twins
According to NBC Los Angeles, the coroner’s office confirmed the identity and the death of one of the Porter Ranch twins. The Los Angeles Country Medical Examiner confirmed that Kai Bernabe passed away at the hospital. Kai was three months shy of his fourth birthday when the life-threatening accident occurred.
Los Angeles firefighters were the first to arrive at the Porter Ranch residence on the morning of Thursday, April 20. The emergency responders received the conditions of the twin boys and directed the family to provide CPR. They reached the location at 10:34 a.m. and tried to take the necessary life-saving measures.

Brian Humphrey of the LAFD disclosed the details of a tragic event in an official statement. “As LAFD firefighters provided telephone CPR guidance, the LAFD paramedics rushed to continue advanced life support and promptly transported the pair to hospital.”
Humphrey also confirmed that one of the twins, now identified as Kai Bernabe was in grave condition while his brother was in critical condition. The emergency responders shifted their parents to a regional Pediatric Trauma Center however the incidents leading to the tragedy are still under investigation.
Officials didn’t find any foul play in the Porter Ranch Twins tragedy
LAFD Captain Erik Scott shared the report confirming the death of one of the boys. Kai Bernabe was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Meanwhile, his twin brother received emergency care for a drowning accident. Capt. Scott further reminded people to enhance pool safety.
It is important for people who have a pool to do four things, especially with summer coming up. THE First is to secure your pool with appropriate barriers. secondly, designate a water watcher when children are swimming; third is, if a child is missing in the home, check the water first; and lastly, fourth is to learn and provide CPR.”
The official reports of police shared on Friday denies any involvement of foul play. The officials also reached out to neighbors who expressed their shock about the incident and said the twins belonged to a ‘loving family.’
Following the investigation, Captain Kelly Muniz of the Los Angeles Police Department concluded the case as a tragic accident. As of writing the article, there are no updates on the condition of the second toddler.
