Vaas Returning To Far Cry? Far Cry 6 and Vaas Connection Explained

Far Cry 6 Vaas

Like all Ubisoft games, Far Cry 6 got leaked today. And since then, the internet has gone haywire as Giancarlo Esposito, or as we famously know him, Gus Fring from Breaking Bad is in the game. Along with him, is a child who could be a younger Vaas. So, in Far Cry 6, is Vaas returning as the villain? What’s his role? Is he returning at all?

Vaas and The Kid

In the leaked image, we see Esposito as Anton Castillo with a kid named Diego who has a scar on his right eyebrow. Now, interestingly, Vaas has that scar too. Now obviously, that couldn’t mean much, right?

Anton rules the tropical island of Yara. And Diego is his son and they’re trying to restore the “nation back to its former glory by any means”. Diego is “following in his bloody footsteps.”

But Vaas was born on Rook Islands and Far Cry 3 sets in 1985. But, Vaas, never for once mentions about anything of such sort in the game. So is Ubisoft planning to retcon the storylines and intertwine them together?

Now, here’s where it all gets interesting!

Esposito and Vaas, i.e., Michael Mando, are currently working on the same show together, Better Call Saul. Mando recently did a Reddit AMA, where someone asked him if he still gets recognized as Vaas. Mando replied by saying –

Thank you so much! Vaas is my spirit animal – having co-created that character is something that will always be dear to me. I still get recognized as Vaas, and I still feel the outpouring of love for that character – makes me very happy. Who knows… maybe I will reprise the role very soon? :p Thank you for watching xo

Now that’s what we’re talking about. So, if that hint leads to reality, not only are we seeing a young Vaas, we’ll be seeing the Vaas we know, all again!

Vaas didn’t originally have that scar in Far Cry 3

Vaas didn’t have that right eyebrow scar in the game. It’s Mando who put the scar on when he did his live-action stints as the character. So, could this mean Ubisoft had this planned since back then?

Another interesting thing is that it’s Far Cry 6. So, it having to do at least something with Far Cry 3 couldn’t be impossible. But it’d be too soon for us to decide or declare anything. We’ll let you know once we have an official extended look from Ubisoft during Ubisoft Forward on July 12.
