The future looks bright for gaming as we will witness the release of a promising open-world space flight sim next year. If you’ve been keeping an eye out for games that will provide you with a breathtaking experience in space, look no further. With Underspace Early Access in 2024, you can start exploring the vast cosmos in an open-world setting filled with quests, bosses, and mysteries waiting for you. Players can start playing a demo now to get a sneak peek of what the Underspace Early Access period will offer.
Pastaspace Interactive and Camlann Games have taken inspiration from classic space games like Freelancer to create Underspace, a game that allows you to explore an intricate and handcrafted galaxy.
How to Join Underspace Early Access Period in 2024
Underspace Early Access is scheduled to begin sometime in 2024, and as of writing, you can now wishlist the game on Steam so you won’t miss out on important updates. Though they haven’t revealed a specific start date for Early Access, we can expect it to begin in Q1 of 2024.
Right now, the only way for interested gamers to possibly join Underspace Early Access is by keeping tabs on the latest updates and news from the devs. They also aim to include PvP and co-op multiplayer modes once Underspace Early Access begins.

Some of the key features of Underspace are the following:
- Intricate star systems. Over 70 handcrafted star systems are available for players to explore with the game’s open-world map. One star system is unlike the other, so prepare to uncover all kinds of secrets and challenges as you hop from one star system to another.
- Meet all kinds of unique individuals on your journey across the galaxy. Underspace hosts 40 different factions that have their own culture. The game will also have several sidequests you can take on if you want to take a break from the main campaign.

- Have an array of ships at your disposal. In Underspace, you can use and customize over 60 ships that can be improved by using all kinds of equipment. Make sure your ship is fast and strong enough not to get caught in the crosshairs of a ghost train, or else you’ll end up helplessly floating through space.

- Different enemies await you. There are over 20 unique bosses in Underspace, with each one trying their best to stop you from uncovering the secrets hidden in the stars.
- Be the best space fighter the stars have seen. Using your trusty ship, combat in Underspace won’t be easy, but it sure as hell will be exciting and rewarding. The game’s combat system is manual and skill-based, so you’ll have to be strategic with your attacks and not just go headfirst into every battle.
Finally, the highlight of Underspace is your ability to carve your destiny in the cosmos based on your actions and decisions. You can be whatever type of space fighter you want to be. The game has no limits on what you can do. If you want to be a good adventurer and fight off those who bring more harm than good, Underspace allows you to do so. On the other hand, you can always turn to the dark side if you want to pursue the riches hidden in space.
What is the game all about?
Underspace is by solo developer Kevin Brock, best known for his works as a modder in the Skyrim community. Aside from being a modder, Brock also has experience being a contract engineer for several Bethesda titles. With all that experience under his belt, Brock’s love for open-world RPG titles is evident in Underspace.

The sandbox space RPG focuses on Kardoz, a disgraced noble now living life as a starchaser. Although Underspace provides background on who the main character is, his fate rests entirely in the player’s hands. Whether you want Kardoz to get back on the right track by performing good deeds or you want to be the best space pirate there is, Kardoz’s future is up to you.
As you traverse the stars, you can also recruit NPCs to join your squad. Outer space is vast, so having a friend or two by your side is better.
