Ubisoft has recently taken an interest in Non-Fungible Tokens and blockchain technology. The Q2 earnings call made this public. Moreover, Ubisoft is a founding member of the Blockchain Game Alliance. It has also taken interest in several blockchain-focused developers. Now, Ubisoft has announced its first line of NFTs.
UBISOFT QUARTZ
- Ubisoft Quartz is our first experience of Ubisoft’s venture into blockchain technology. It will offer limited-edition cosmetic items for Ubisoft games. Moreover, Ubisoft is focusing on in-game cosmetic NFTs and not blockchain-related gaming technology for now.
- Ubisoft Quartz will first be featured in its beta version in Ghost Recon: Breakingpoint. The beta version launches on the 9th of December. Digits is the name given to these items. Every Digit will have a unique serial number. The cosmetics in-game can be in the form of helmets or rifles with tiny numbers imprinted on them.
The Digits’ metadata will have Players’ Ubisoft Connect username embedded. New owners’ usernames will be added to existing metadata when a Digit is sold. This will serve as a history of Digit’s ownership.
Be Unique. Control. Play.

The Digits are free. However, there are also some criteria that players have to satisfy.
- Helmet- Requires 600 hours gameplay

The specified criteria are also to ensure that genuine Ubisoft players will benefit from the new update. However, the beta is also available only in select regions: Australia, Brazil, Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Belgium, Canada, and the USA.
