Magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Turkey and Syria
The massive earthquake becomes one of the most powerful quakes to hit the area. The largest earthquake disaster runs back to 1939, and now it happens again.
- The initial earthquake hit 23 kilometers east of Nurdagi in Gaziantep province, Turkey.

- In multiple news reports, at least 3,800 people lost their lives in this disaster. The quake left more than 15,000 injured in Turkey and Syria.
- If the first quake attack reaches magnitude 7.8, buildings became vulnerable. Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Agency said that at least 5,600 buildings in the area collapsed. According to a CNN report, northern Syria also had similar damage in their area, and more buildings could still collapse.

- Moreover, the 7.8 magnitude may just become the worst nightmare for the netizens hit by the earthquake. Unfortunately, it didn’t stop there. The US Geological Survey tallied around 77 aftershocks that followed the initial quake. One recorded quake reached a 7.5 magnitude, while some reached a magnitude of 6 or stronger.
