It has been a long while since we’ve heard about any news for a Transformers MMO, and many believed it to be a dead project. However, a recent video from YouTuber RoboGamer1HD claims that we might be closer to it than we think. The video, which details some of the information he knows about the game, went viral and spurred discussion online. Here’s what we know about the MMO game reportedly named Transformers: Rise.
A History of Transformers: Rise
There have been many video games developed about the Transformers franchise though very few have been able to make a memorable mark. The first news of a Transformers MMO appeared in 2011 when NetDragon announced they were working on a game based on the popular universe. However, plans quickly derailed when they abandoned the project a year later.

In 2017, Certain Affinity picked up on the title and began work on the MMO. The Texas-based developer has several veterans from Bungie. It would be the first AAA release of the company if true, as they’ve only done support work for AAA games before this reveal. Some of the projects they’ve done in the past include:
- Left 4 Dead
- Halo
- Call of Duty
- Doom
They have also worked on some independent games, which didn’t gain much fanfare during their respective releases.
What Can We Expect?
Transformers: Rise will be a console MMO. According to RoboGamer, the game is complete, and they’re only finishing up on the game’s cutscenes. They’re also working on completing marketing material. The only reason for the delay is that parent company Hasbro wants to time it with the release of the upcoming film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
RoboGamer said he talked to an insider who revealed the information he shared in the video. He even saw a cutscene with characters such as Optimus Prime, Starscream, and Shockwave. The original pitch of Certain Affinity was to have the story center around Unicron as the main villain. However, they later scratched that idea because it was hard to build a battle against a planet-sized bot.
He also mentioned that the developers were not using any of the classic voice actors. That means that we’ll likely see new voice actors for the roles, which may come as a surprise to franchise fans.
Is the Information True?
While RoboGamer has been spewing out details, no one else can support or refute it. It’s because there hasn’t been any indication that the development of a Transformers MMO is underway. We must take his information with a grain of salt as he has no track record for proving any of these supposed leaks. It is possible, given that Transformers: Rise of the Beasts has a June 2023 release date.
The last Transformers video game was Battlegrounds, released in 2020 by Coatsink. There were plans to release a Transformers AR game from Niantic, but it did not come to fruition.
