Top 5 Summer Anime 2022 that you should watch before Fall season

The thing about seasons is that it is hardly only us who run along its treadmill. It’s also the anime shows which have an audience to entertain and creative workers to feed. Summer Anime 2022 left us with a glistening smile. It wasn’t the season that homed god-tier shows (imagine something along the lines of Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen). But it did leave you hanging for more.

Honestly, there are only two possibilities. Either you’re a binge-watcher who watches the entire episodes of one season of a show in its entirety, or you’re the slow eater. You take in episodes once a week. Either way, it’s fine really because you’re in for a show. That’s why before you dive into the next season you should check our recommendations down below out. Here are 8 Summer Anime 2022 that you should watch before you head out into the next season. This is based on the popularity + ratings found on MyAnimeList.

(Also we have listed most of the recommendations on MuseAsia’s youtube channel where you can watch it for free. However, the channel is only available in Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, India, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Brunei. Well you can always use a VPN.)

Summer Anime 2022 have ended, but what’s up with the next season?

Chainsaw man Key Visual by Mappa
Mappa released Key Visual

The Fall Season of the year 2022 is going to be a monster invasion of anime that each deserve to come out in a separate season. I say so because only in this way will the balance of the anime world be maintained. But studios don’t care about competition. This isn’t a theatre, revenue isn’t earned in real-time cinema halls alone.

I say this because the Fall season is all hell-bent on world dominion. Chainsaw Man, Spy x Family part 2, Mob Psycho 100 Season 3, My Hero Academia Season 6, F**KING BLEACH THOUSAND YEAR BLOOD WARS. Alright cultured men, enough ranting. Let’s bring the list on.

5/5 The Devil is A Part Timer

Introduction

The Devil is A Part Timer follows the Demon Lord Satan who begins to conquer the land of Ente Isla. Here’s the thing about getting a season 2 of an anime to work. Either you make such an astonishing season 2 that people pay blood to watch it, or you make a return some 9 years later. The latter road is exactly what The Devil is A Part Timer Season 2 took when it decided to make a return after its first season ended in 2013.

Plot

  • The overused Demon-Hero cliche ends up badly when Satan-sama is pushed to a dimensional portal by hero Emilia but he ends up in a world that is known as Earth.
  • Deprived of Magic, Satan takes the name of a human named Sadao Maou and begins working at MgRonald’s (COPYRIGHT!)—a local fast-food restaurant—to make ends meet.

Honestly, not many people cared about it initially but over the decade Anime has become something special. Not exactly because the anime is way too good, but simply because it’s fun and keeps you engaged. It does everything in moderation and it did leave you a little empty when it ended. As the fifth in our recommended best Summer Anime 2022, this one will require you to watch the previous season.

4/5  Lycoris Recoil

Lycoris Recoil
via Crunchyroll

Introduction

The fourth in the top 5 best Summer Anime 2022 by Spieltimes is Lycoris Recoil. This anime original (meaning it has no manga source, although a manga has been produced and is being published) follows the journey of Takina Inoue. Takina is trained to be an assassin as part of the syndicated network called D.A or Direct Attack that prevents terrorism in modern Japan under the Lycoris Program.

It takes its name off of the nature of the organization: to show zero mercy to terrorists. All the assassins are ruthless and are hardly pacifists. During a raid when a plan goes haywire and her superior fails to do anything, Takina here takes the initiative to commit the gravest sin of any militant organization in any world of any dimension ever – to disobey her field commander and go save the day. She succeeds in saving her squad mate who was captured by the villains.

Plot

  • The following plot revolves around how Takina loses her position and is transferred to an affiliate organization named LycoReco (hence the title of the anime) where she is confronted with her new subordinate, Chisato Nishikigi (who reminds me of the perfect waifu Chitoge Kirisaki)
  • Chisato is the second protagonist, one you will emotionally cling to by episode 10. She is the de-facto John Wick of all anime “you go girl!” multiverses with her resolve to never assassinate but only subjugate the terrorist bastards.
  • The anime follows the journey of both the girls as Takina adapts to Chisato’s ways of never killing but only subjugating.

Despite it being an action-comedy-violent Anime series, expect plenty of heartfelt moments. Also, prepare to tear up really bad. The Gun-fu and character developments will take you for a ride.

3/5 Classroom of the Elite Season 2

Summer Anime 2022 Classroom of the elite
Snapped from Muse Asia

Introduction

Beginning with the cliché phrase “are all human beings truly treated equally?”, we must say Classroom of the Elite has its own fair share of a loyal fanbase. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji is a Class D (the dump of the school) student of the elite paradise-seeming Koudo Ikusei Senior High School. This of course is far from the truth.

This school presents its most elite students through a behind-the-scenes series of cut-throat competition, cunning tactics, unfair gameplay, and witty minds all rivaling each other. Plus point, Kiyotaka like all other cape-reveal sociopathic introverted protagonists, has a dual personality.

Plot

  • Continuing right from where it left in Season 1, Kiyotaka Ayanokouji has once again the stage all set for him to take class D into a roller coaster ride of a ‘we will rise to the top slogan.
  • In Season 1, after Class D emerges victorious in the Deserted Island Special Test, there is now another special test to be conducted; this time in their luxury cruise. This is called the Planetary Exam, where students from Classes A throughout D are intermixed, forming eight groups representing the eight planets.
  • A certain member from each group is assigned the VIP, and the rest of the members guess and discuss who the VIP is. Provided they all discuss and communicate correctly with no dirty tricks, they all clear the exam. Provided they do not- well, the penalty.

So, will Kiyotaka Ayanokouji take Class D and himself along the victorious premises again? The finest edition in our list of best Summer Anime 2022.

2/5 Made in Abyss

Introduction

With only 13 episodes serving the first season, Made in Abyss is truly chosen by fans as a masterpiece, and rightly so. Such fantastic worldbuilding, lore, character development, and just the right amount of chibi cuteness mixed with the dark veiled truth of the Abyss.

Plot

  • The city of Orth, built around the gaping edges of the deep, deep Abyss is where our protagonist Riko lives. She is the daughter of one of the most famous Cave Raiders, White Whistle Lyza the Annihilator.
  • The beginning is pretty Maze Runner-ish. The protagonist is told not to go into the Abyss, she goes anyway. Along with the robot Reg, and Nanachi a human she befriended, Riko ventures further inside the unpredictable deeper levels of the Abyss in Season 2.
  • After surviving the brutal challenges at Idofront, Riko is now in possession of a White Whistle; an element that allows her to descend into the sixth layer of the Abyss, where the ruins of the promised Golden City are located. Creepy creatures called hollows inhabit this strange land, but Riko and her friends go on, accepting an unwelcoming and creepy aura.

Is Riko now closer than ever to finding her mother’s lost footsteps? Check out season 2 of Made in Abyss.

1/5 Overlord IV

Momonga OVERLORD
Momonga Sama, courtesy of IMDB

Introduction

They could have just said Overlord season 4. But who the heck is gonna do that when you have to mention the great Ainz Own Gowl sama in the title? For all the badassery that dude pulls off in one episode, you ought to crown him with the Roman numerals. He deserves no less. Overlord is the anime adaptation of the light novel of the same name and follows an overpowered character who’s so strong you will c*m your pants.

The Plot

  • He comes off from a virtual reality game named Yggdrasil which was known for the freedom it gave to its players. In the year 2138, the game is about to close down, and the only person remaining for its closure is Momonga, one of the game’s most devoted players.
  • Along with many other notable players, Momonga created the game’s biggest guild Ainz Ooal Gown. However, when midnight hits and the game should officially be closed, the game does not log him out.
  • What happens instead is that Momonga is transported to another world and his only remaining companions are all the NPC guardians and maids that were left of his guild.
  • Having evaluated his situation, this virtual-game’s-strongest isekaid-into-a-similar-fantasy world protagonist has to go all out in becoming the king of the new world, or as I may call it – the overlord.

Concluding

Season IV follows Momonga after has conquered E-Rantel, the previous trade capital of the country of Sorcerers, and is continued by Madhouse for their 4th reign. On his path to becoming the overlord of the world, he sets certain changes that ravage the human world. This is our de-facto best nomination for Summer Anime 2022.

It seems Madhouse is going to continue with this anime for as long as they possibly can. Overlord IV is this season’s greatest treat, although it requires 3 previous seasons to make sense of. If you haven’t already, do your Overlord his due and watch the finest show of Summer Anime 2022. (Subjective, can be different for you. But by now you probably know that we can’t ever rank the Best anime, we can only give our opinions.)
