One of the best things about Ahsoka is the mysterious new character Baylan Skoll, who mystified audiences from his introduction in the first episode to his strange unfinished quest in the season finale. Needless to say, the Grey Jedi’s story is far from over, which has led to speculations that it will continue to be explored in Ahsoka Season 2.
And here lies a major dilemma for the Star Wars Universe. Ray Stevenson, who put his whole heart and soul into Baylan Skoll, passed away in May before the premiere of Ahsoka. Without Stevenson, Baylan’s story will remain unfinished by the time the series is renewed in the near future. Interestingly, there are several speculations about the role being recast for Ahsoka Season 2, and the choices include some major A-listers!
Should Baylan Skoll Be Recast in Ahsoka Season 2?
The first season of Ahsoka concluded on a cliffhanger that suggested Baylan’s quest is far from over. But with Stevenson’s passing, a change is expected in the second season. There are a few options to bring Baylan back on the screen, from unused footage to CGI work. However, it is more likely that the role will be recast, considering the number of expected scenes in Ahsoka Season 2.

But who can take on the role and respect Stevenson’s performance at the same time? Star Wars fans have a lot of ideas on the recast, and not surprisingly, they are throwing in a few big names.
Gerard Butler
One of the big names that has been popular in the fandom, Gerard Butler, has the same intense presence and stature as Ray Stevenson. The 300 star also proved he could easily handle action sequences in the Zack Snyder film as well as the Has Fallen series.
I don’t think anyone could replace Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll. He gave such an incredible performance and stole every scene he was in.
As the character’s story seems unfinished, would you want to see a recast? Maybe Gerard Butler?#Ahsoka #BaylanSkoll #Anakin pic.twitter.com/WbWpEoSjt7

Butler could easily handle a lightsaber and even master Baylan’s fighting style in Ahsoka Season 2. On the other hand, we might need an actor who possesses emotional depth for the second season.
Vincent Regan
Butler’s 300 co-star recently captured people’s attention for his portrayal of Vice Admiral Garp in Netflix’s live-action One Piece series. Sure, he’s a little older, but Regan has a calm demeanor simmering with intensity that is similar to Baylan. Regan will undoubtedly give Baylan a similar performance if he is chosen to take over in Ahsoka Season 2.
Graham McTavish
Going to be an unpopular opinion but I wouldn't be upset if they eventually recast Baylan Skoll instead of disappearing the character or killing him off-screen.

Graham McTavish’s impressive career includes notable roles in The Hobbit series and television series like Outlander, The Witcher, House of the Dragon, and his voice work in Castlevania. His rich experience in the realm of fantasy storytelling makes him a fitting candidate for the expansive Star Wars universe, known for its fusion of ancient fantasy elements with science fiction. This synergy is particularly evident in the portrayal of Jedi, including former Jedi like Baylan Skoll.
McTavish’s versatility and skillset make him a strong contender for seamlessly immersing himself in the Star Wars galaxy.
Russell Crowe

Russell Crowe’s illustrious career boasts an impressive array of Hollywood productions, showcasing his remarkable versatility. From iconic roles in movies like Gladiator and Les Misérables, Crowe has consistently demonstrated his adaptability and ability to explore diverse character niches. One of these niches involves his notable appearances in superhero films, such as Justice League, Thor: Love and Thunder, and the upcoming Kraven the Hunter.
Given his exceptional talents, Crowe’s potential inclusion in the Star Wars franchise, particularly in the role of Baylan, holds great promise.
Hugh Jackman
IF they chose to recast Baylan Skoll in AHSOKA S2, I have an idea : Hugh Jackman. I think he'd be a worthy replacement for Ray Stevenson on several fronts, including looks. That may be dismissed, but Baylan does have a strong, striking look and figure. Important element for me. pic.twitter.com/YDovngWwdN

He’s already a part of the Marvel universe, so why not join the Star Wars franchise? Hugh Jackman already knows how to play grumpy, overpowered mutants, which makes him a great contender for the role of Baylan. It could also give Ahsoka Season 2 the star power it could need in the long run.
For now, Lucasfilm and Disney have not yet confirmed Ahsoka Season 2. However, the Star Wars series is already expected to be renewed by the end of the year. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
