‘The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience’ is a free, boundary-pushing cinematic and open-world interactive tech demo that combines the power of PlayStation5 with UE5. It is one of the best games which have splendid graphics.

YouTube’s ‘Cycu1’ has released a comparison video between the real-time graphics of The Matrix Awakens and the original movie scenes from The Matrix. The comparison is almost the same. It’s pretty much difficult to detect any difference. The comparison shows how close to the real thing this Unreal Engine 5 Tech Demo actually is.

The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience is designed to take full advantage of PS5’s technology- including the super-fast SSD drive, CPU, GPU, alongside console ray tracing.

Comparison

The 3D models of all main characters in this tech demo are incredible. Moreover, the lighting system is beyond anything we’ve seen. Not only that, but Nanite does an incredible job and minimizes pop-ups. Additionally, there are some amazing physics effects. These are possible because of the UE5 Chaos physics system. The environment also feels real in a way that interactive experiences up to this point have not.

Everything in the game is almost real, the only way you can actually tell the difference is by looking at the animations. However, currently, the animations are not up to our expectations. As such, both lip-syncing and character movement feel a bit stiff and unnatural.

• The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience showcases what that next generation of interactive experiences will offer: vast open worlds, ever more engaging activities, and levels of graphical realism that can match that of cinematic content.
• Now the main question arises that whether actual games will look anything like this remains to be seen. After all, there are some major performance hits on both Xbox Series X and PS5.
