The Last of Us has taken fans on an emotional rollercoaster, with each weekly episode on HBO Max leaving viewers on the edge of their seats. In The Last of Us Episode 8, Ellie encountered a terrifying cult leader with a penchant for cannibalism who masqueraded as a preacher. But amidst the chaos, she found her way back to Joel, setting the stage for an intense and emotional reunion. Also, When Will The Last of Us Season 1 Episode 9 release and what will it be about?
What did The Last of Us Season 1 Episode 8 signify in large?

The prime highlight of the previous episode (8) was that the entirety of the episode was about Ellie willowing through the decayed world alone. A lot had to be said about it, given that throughout the entire episode.
All did was find her at the end. The initial expectation that I had while watching the episode was that Joel would come to save the day. Yet unexpectedly, the storytellers (of the obvious The Last of Us Game, of course) had a different direction in mind.
The Last of Us Episode 8 recap:
The point is that Ellie must still save herself first

- The previous episode is significant in this aspect. Because it exhibited that despite having a father figure in Joel, Ellie will inevitably face sequences of events that she must steer clear of on her own.
- When she chopped that machete into the Shepherd, it was obvious that she had learned how to act on her own.
Telling him that she is infected, and distracting him was a brilliant ploy. Any longer and she may have found herself chopped alive into pieces, only to be fed to the sheep the shepherd was raising. (I am symbolically referring to the people David, the ‘shepherd’ was rearing).
Ellie’s finest comfort did arrive in the form of Joel. When Joel hugged her from behind, she had but no words. Still traumatized from almost being chopped first, and then violated, Ellie had a lot to process. Nothing warmed her more than the Jacket that Joel put on her freezing body, however.

Could Ellie have done better in The Last of Us Season 1 Episode 8?
The Last of Us Season 1 Episode 8 also pointed out Ellie’s obvious demeanors. Although she was quick and crafty and witty, as always, she still could have decided to act along with David’s request to join him. Because the moment she retaliated in violence, David took to his real form. Unveiling the psychopathic monster that he is from within.
