The main vocalist of a rising K-pop girl group Billlie appeared on The King of Mask Singer and blew the audience away with her talents. During the broadcast of July 9, 2023, of the MBC singing competition, eight new contestants joined to compete for the crown. One of the contestants that gained the audience’s attention was ‘Rubber Basin Red.’
She first matched up with ‘Truck Blue‘ and competed with the duet version of Kim Hyun Chul’s “The Downfall of the Moon.” Following the first round, the judges complimented Rubber Basin Red for her gorgeous voice. They also agreed that her expertise in singing establishes that she is a professional singer. This further raised the curiosity of the audience to know who is Rubber Basin Red.
Rubber Basin Red’s identity surprises the audience on The King of Mask Singer
Many of the attending audience and panelists tried to guess who is the talented artist behind the mask of Rubber Basin Red. While some guessed it must be a K-pop idol, others wondered if she was a musical actress. To offer more clues about her identity, the masked artist showcased her dancing skills by covering Red Velvet’s Red Flavor and HyunA‘s RED.
These witty covers, all matching the Rubber Basin Red concept, won the hearts of the audiences. The performances also further strengthen the belief that she must be a K-pop idol with her steady vocal range and skillful dancing. However, to the dismay of the panelist, Rubber Basin Red couldn’t reach the throne as she lost the round against her opponent with a difference of only three votes.
K-pop girl group, Billlie’s Haram, performed HwaSa’s Maria
After leaving the stage, Rubber Basin Red appeared later, covering a soulful performance of MAMAMOO HwaSa’s solo single Maria. The song’s ode to self-love and acceptance, produced with the honey vocals of the singer, made people forget about her hidden identity for a moment.
- The audience was pleasantly surprised when Rubber Basin Red unmasked herself halfway through the performance, revealing that she was Billlie’s main vocalist Haram. Following the performance, Haram disclosed that she wanted to receive an evaluation without revealing her identity, and after receiving the possible reactions, she felt proud to join the show.
- She also revealed that she attended the same high school as third gen boy group EXO’s Baekhyun. The two artists used to be part of the same group where she was the main vocalist. This decade-old connection equally fascinated the audience as Billlie Haram’s performance. Haram also disclosed her hopes to greet people through her group Billlie and perform at the MBC Entertainment Awards.
