The Fire Hunter Season 2 confirmed
The official Twitter account for The Fire Hunter anime revealed on Saturday that a second season is presently under development. This announcement was made soon after the premiere of the tenth episode.
The Fire Hunter’s debut season was broadcasted on January 14, 2023, and consisted of ten episodes, exclusively airing on the premium subscription channel WOWOW. Crunchyroll is also streaming the series.
Despite not being a prominent name during the Winter 2023 season, the series has gained enough popularity. Both domestically and internationally, to merit another season.
This might be the last season of The Fire Hunter series
- Given that there are four volumes along with a side story volume, the second season is expected to be the last.
- As the first two canon volumes have already been covered, there are only two remaining volumes yet to be adapted.
What is the plot of The Fire Hunter anime?
The setting of the series takes place after the apocalyptic Last War that resulted in chaos for humanity. The world is occupied by a vast forest that is home to flaming creatures and other fallen beasts.
This has compelled humanity to reside in secluded communities that are well-protected. A weapon employed during the Last War causes humans to burst into flames spontaneously, even when they come into contact with minor fire sources.
To secure a safe energy source for humanity, fire catchers are sent into the great forest to gather the flameling that exists within their bodies.
At the start of the series, Toko, a young girl, is attacked by flamelings in the great forest, but a flamecatcher comes to her rescue.
The Fire Hunter Season 2 Staff and Cast
Junji Nishimura directed the first season of the series, which was animated by Signal.MD Studios. Mamoru Oshii was in charge of overseeing and writing the scripts for the season. The return of the mentioned staff members and animation studio for the second season is assumed but not confirmed.
The anime’s main cast includes:
- Misaki Kuno as Toko
- Shoya Ishige as Koshi
- Maaya Sakamoto as Akira
- Yoshimasa Hosoya as Roroku
