The 2023 NCAA Women’s Basketball Finals was nothing short of spectacular. The battle between LSU Tigers and Iowa Hawkeyes featured two of the best players in the nation – Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark. After LSU captures its first-ever NCAA title by beating Iowa (102-85) on Sunday, Reese started taunting and mocking Clark which sparked buzz on the internet.
Angel Reese hits Caitlin Clark with John Cena’s “You Can’t See Me”
With just a minute left in the game, LSU’s Angel Reese hits Iowa’s Caitlin Clark with John Cena’s famous “You can’t see me” gesture. In the same tournament, Clark also used a similar taunt against Louisville in the Elite Eight.

Angel Reese taunts Caitlin Clark: Reese knows a ring is coming
Right after mimicking John Cena’s infamous gesture, Angel Reese proceeded to point to her ring finger, insinuating that LSU will emerge as this year’s champions. Which in fact, was what really happened. LSU Tigers won the 2023 NCAA championship over Iowa, making it their first title in school history.

While many think that Angel Reese is “classless” and has no “sportsmanship”, it’s quite unfair for the 2023 Most Outstanding Player to receive that kind of hate. Caitlin Clark has also taunted and trash-talked her opponents in the past, but she is hailed as “competitive” and “fiery”. But, after winning the championship, Reese expressed her feelings on how she is being vilified by social media.
“All year I was critiqued about who I was. … I don’t fit the narrative. I don’t fit in a box that y’all want me to be in. I’m too hood. I’m too ghetto. Y’all told me that all year. But when other people do it, y’all say nothing,” Reese said. “So this was for the girls that look like me, that’s going to speak up on what they believe in. It’s unapologetically you. That’s what I did it for tonight. It was bigger than me tonight. It was bigger than me. Twitter is going to go on a rage every time, and I’m happy. I feel like I’ve helped grow women’s basketball this year. I’m super happy and excited. So I’m looking forward to celebrating in the next season.”

Angel Reese explained why she taunted Caitlin Clark during the 2023 NCAA Finals
Although Reese had high praises for Clark’s superb basketball talents, she explained that her actions were based on her opponent’s act of disrespect towards her and her teammates. It has been a tough matchup between these two teams, especially Reese and Clark, who are both named in the All-Tournament team.
Those who watched the NCAA Women’s basketball games knew that Caitlin Clark also likes to talk trash to her opponents. She likes to get into their heads and get on their nerves. Despite that, her basketball talents can back all of her words. She has broken record after record, both in the men’s and women’s divisions. On the other hand, Angel Reese is one of the most misunderstood players. Many people are already siding with Reese, such as NBA legend LeBron James. Well, this just goes to show that women can talk trash too!
