Cult horror franchise the Texas Chainsaw Massacre is getting a video game adaptation by publisher GUN Interactive. It will be the first game based on the 1974 slasher film since their 1982 title for Atari 2600. Texas Chain Saw Massacre: The Game Gameplay Overview
The gameplay should feel identical to games like Friday the 13th: The Game from the same publisher or the popular title Dead by Daylight.
- Texas Chain Saw Massacre: The Game is a player vs player (PvP) online multiplayer where you assume the role of either a killer or a victim. The third person asymmetrical horror game will put you into a 3 vs 4 player situation. The killers will be banded in a team of three against the survivor’s team of four.

- As a killer, your goal is to eliminate all the victims who are trying to escape from the family. You can play as five killers within the game – Leatherface, the Cook, the Hitchhiker, Johny and Sissy.
- All of them will have different weapons, attributes and skills based on the character.
- If you choose to play as a victim, you must avoid getting caught and successfully run away from the household.
- You will need to be as stealthy as possible while attempting to make minimal noise during certain tasks to prevent from alarming the killers. The players will get to play as five survivors as well – Ana, Connie, Julie, Leland and Sonny.
- The map will feature a number of hiding spots, usable by both the killers and the victims. However, it will be more handy for the victims to utilize them if they hear a killer getting close.
- No matter which side you choose, communication with your teammates is the key element to winning a round. Effective planning and collaboration will allow you to achieve the goals more efficiently.
Does Texas Chain Saw Massacre: The Game support Crossplay?
- Reportedly, Texas Chain Saw Massacre: The Game will have crossplay features if you are playing on PC (Steam) or next gen consoles like the Xbox Series X/S and the PlayStation 5.
- However, this feature will not be available for platforms like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
- By default, the crossplay feature will be turned on across the platforms supporting it. You will also have the option to switch it off from the in-game settings.
- When it’s on, an icon representing each player’s chosen device will be visible, allowing you to observe their platforms.
- Cross-progression will not be available for the game. This means that your progression will be tied to a specific platform and can not be carried over to another.
The game will be released on the 18th of August, 2023. It is coming on PC (Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It is also releasing on Xbox Game Pass at Day One.
