eSports had spread to the realms of the Indian gaming market many years ago and has been steadily on the rise. While games like CS:GO, Dota 2 and Rainbow Six: Siege persist as the prime contenders in the changing arena, Tencent, a holding conglomerate, video-game behemoth and the joint-developers of Mobile PUBG have intrepidly announced the biggest gaming tournament in India, the PUBG Mobile: Campus Championship. Tencent will partner up with OPPO India in this joint venture and hold the competition from 26th September 2018 to 21th October 2018. The Grand Finals of the contest will culminate in the city of Bangalore.

Students from over 1000 colleges in 30+ cities from around the country will be able to participate in the mega contest. The official partner OPPO have declared a total of Rs. 50 Lakhs as the prize pool. The championship will be streamed across social media on the internet in the hopes of attracting eSports enthusiasts and aspirants from the country. Tencent has made it eligible for squads of four from any campus in India as a sine qua non for participating in the tournament. Four knockout rounds including the semi-finals will shortlist the final 20 teams to compete for the ultimate trophy at the grand finals. Registrations will be open via the official website www.pubgmobile.in from 7th September 2018 till 23rd September 2018.
There will be special awards for players excelling in different areas of the games. The criteria for the awards to be given to the rightful participants in the Grand Finals are as follows:
- MVP – Overall Best Player with maximum number of MVP awards
- The Executioner – Awarded for maximum kills overall
- The Medic – Awarded for highest number of revives
- The Redeemer – Awarded to the player with highest amount of health restored
- The Rampage Freak – Awarded for maximum kills in one lobby
- The Lone ranger – Awarded for Maximum Time Survived in game
