Syed Kirmani Reveals He’s Also A “Victim of Injustice”, After Wriddhiman Saha’s Controversy

Former Indian cricketer, Syed Kirmani, revealed recently that he’s also been victimized by the selection committee and his own state.

The Wriddhiman Saha controversy has gained a lot of publicity. He was dropped from the Sri Lanka series despite his good performances in earlier matches. Moreover, BCCI president, Saurav Ganguly had assured him about his permanency in the Squad. The journalist case has made Indian cricketers angry.

Many cricketers have come to support Saha, from Pragyan Ojha to Virender Sehwag to Venkatesh Prasad have weighed in on the matter and urged Saha to name the culprit. But Saha is a good man, he doesn’t want to ruin the career of the journalist. So he didn’t disclose the name of the journalist.

After the Saha controversy, now former Indian cricketer, Syed Kirmani has joined the debate.

He was also the victim of the same case. He was too treated unfairly during his time as India’s figure behind the stumps. Kirmani was part of India’s historic 1983 World Cup win, has revealed that despite being India’s best wicketkeeper he was shown the exit door despite their being ‘no competition’.

“Saha has got tremendous competition around him with all the youngsters performing well in the IPL and other limited-overs matches. He’s obviously very sad, but every cricketer has to go through the ups and downs, right? We don’t know what the selection committee and the team management think about the player. I have also been a victim of injustice, but nobody talks about it,” Kirmani told in an interview.

Kirmani also reveal that there were some instances where journalists wrote untrue articles about him, which no one cared to cross-check.

“I’ve always been a fighter. My own state removed me from the team when I wanted to stage a comeback and honor my country. That’s why I was forced to move to the Railways team. The then secretary of the Karnataka State Cricket Association said, ‘Oh, so you’re going to the Railways? Let’s see how you perform there.’ Is that how you talk to a World Cup winner and someone who has always been a team man?”

This type of treatment with the cricketer is just unbelievable. The world cup winner must be given respect as he has contributed to making the country proud. These things just need to be addressed by BCCI and strict action should be taken.
