The PS5 and Xbox One are just a few months away from launch, and fans all across the world are eagerly waiting for the consoles to launch. Amidst the wait for the new console launch, Nintendo has revealed their stance on the same.
In a Japanese Q&A, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said “We will explain the specific figures for the next fiscal year in our next fiscal year announcement, but I think there will certainly be a change in the environment as new products of our competitors appear.” However, he further adds that the target audience of the the upcoming consoles and the Switch is different. He says “we do not believe that the business trends of other companies will have a significant impact on our business.”
The claims made by the Nintendo President is somewhat true. It has been earlier reported that around 40% of Switch owners own either a PS4 or an Xbox One. The Nintendo Switch on the other hand, is in the middle of its life cycle. He adds “In terms of software, in addition to continuously introducing new software, we believe that it will be very important to continue our efforts to sell titles that we have released so far. We believe that the Nintendo Switch business is now in its fourth year and is just in the middle of its life cycle. Rather than just the next year, I think about things in terms of what to do the following year and the year after that.”
