After the incredible success of Stranger Things 4, fans are probably wondering what is going to happen in the 5th and final season of the show. Read more to find out what you nerds should expect in the next season.
The minds and creators behind this hit show, Matt and Ross Duffer guests in the latest “Happy Sad Confused” podcast episode. They revealed on the podcast some hints for the ant Stranger Things 5.
Stranger Things 5 is going to have shorter episodes
According to the Duffer Brothers, they don’t expect the episodes to be long. Matt stated the reason why season 5 episodes are going to be short.
“The only reason we don’t expect it to be as long is because if you look at it, it’s almost a two-hour ramp-up before our kids really get drawn into the supernatural mystery. You get to know them, you get to see them in their lives, what they’re struggling with, adapting to high school, and so forth. Steve’s trying to find a date, all of that. None of that obviously is going to be occurring in the first two episodes of [season 5]” he said.
However, the season finale is expected to be at least two hours just like in season 4.
It’s going to move fast
The final season is set to be more fast pacing. Matt said “I don’t know that it’s going to be going 100 miles an hour at the start of 5, but it’s going to be moving pretty fast” because the characters are going to be seen in action. Since they already have this “goal and a drive” that occurred in season 4.
They previously stated in TVLine, that there is going to be a time jump in the story, Ross said “I’m sure we will do a time jump” because the actors have grown up already. The gap between seasons, 4, and 5 took quite long due to the pandemic. It would not be feasible anymore for the actors to look the same as when they filmed season 4.

Hawkins is going to be the main setting
Duffer Brothers also said that Hawkins is the main setting of season 5. So there’s no doubt about that. Especially when all of the characters are back in town, they are all about to face and fight Vecna for one last time.
Will Byers is going to play a big part
Furthermore, the interview of the Duffer Brothers with Collider has specified that Will is going to play a big part in the final season. Matt revealed, “Will’s going to be a big part and focus, is really all I can say of Season 5.”
While Ross added “Setting up us coming full circle back to Season 1. I think you’ll see that with a couple of the character arcs, not just with Will. But also with Steve and Nancy, and her relationship with Jonathan where things are not fully resolved. The characters have maybe made steps, like in the case of Will, but that journey isn’t over yet. All of that is going to play a huge role as we try to wrap this thing up next season.”
It would make sense since season 1 started with Will and it’s going to end with him in season 5. His connection with Vecna might finally be further explained in the final season. The thought about is truly exciting on how it’s going to unfold or perhaps they might pull another plot twist?
A possible spoiler from Noah
In addition, Noah Schnapp who played Will Byers has posted this on his Instagram Story yesterday from a fan account. It’s a fan-made poster by Axel Almirón on Instagram. Noah posting it could mean something else. It eventually sparked speculations online and fans are already thinking of it as a spoiler.
He posted this story not long after the Duffer Brothers podcast episode in “Happy Sad Confused” on July 4. Coincidence or not?
Wait for a little longer, nerds
While the cast and crew of the show are going to have a well-deserved break. The writing and pre-production of season 5 are going to begin sometime in August this year according to the Duffer Brothers.
As for the filming, David Harvour a.k.a Jim Hopper hinted at it in his recent interview with British GQ Magazine. He said that they might start filming next year but with no exact date yet. We’re going to find out when soon.
So that’s it for now, hold on to everything that has been said especially by the Duffer Brothers. All of that is just the beginning of the end for the last season of the hit Netflix T.V Series.
The best and only thing to do is to wait for at least 2 to 3 years for its release. However, we might get more spoilers from the Duffer Brothers and with the casts during their interviews in the future. They might be asked for spoilers quite often from now on.
