What is Steam’s refund policy?

If this is your first time requesting a refund on a Steam game, here is a quick explanation on the platform’s policy when it comes to refunds.

  • One of the most common policies regarding refunds is you need to return the product within a certain timeframe.
  • On Steam, you can request a refund for any game you purchased through the platform within the first two weeks or fourteen days of your purchase. Any game that exceeds this timeframe is automatically not eligible for refunding.
  • The second criteria you need in order to meet Steam’s refund policy is the total playtime on the title is less than two hours. If you played the game for more than two hours, you will be unable to refund the title.
  • Furthermore, there are exceptions to this policy. Some exceptions are if you received a ban from the game you purchased or if you didn’t buy the game from Steam.
