The official Steam page for Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s much-awaited remake of Like a Dragon: Ishin confirms the game will be compatible with the Steam Deck.
- The remake is a spin-off of the Ishin franchise finally available for the global market after years of exclusive Japan release. In the Ishin remake, the player will take part in a period drama set in the Bakumatsu era of Japan. It stars Sakamoto Ryoma, based on Kazuma Kiryu, who is searching for the murderer of his father.
- Valve’s hybrid handheld, Steam Deck was first revealed last year. It allows gamers to play their Steam favorites on the go, beginning a new era of handheld gaming. Previous Like a Dragon games were Steam Deck verified, including Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Hence, it is no surprise that the Ishin remake is compatible with the Steam Deck.

- There are also confirmations of the Like a Dragon: Ishin remake utilizing Denuvo anti-tamper technology. It is a third-party anti-cheating software with a bad reputation for causing issues on PC games.

Ishin Remake Trooper Cards
Like a Dragon: Ishin will feature a new Trooper Card system. Players can collect and upgrade their Trooper Cards, which will provide additional attacks during the fight. The cards feature characters from the series and some interesting cameos.
- The first cameo announced is AEW’s Kenny Omega along with Rahul Kohli. Kohli is an actor famous for his appearance in the shows iZombie and The Haunting of Bly Manor.
- His Trooper Card called Essence of Firestorm causes waves of explosive fire. The card’s description states, “A chivalrous man who’s traveled through time, space, and reality to serve the Shinsengumi. Draws upon his experience in law enforcement,”
- Altogether, there will be six cameo-based Trooper Cards and all of them will be available to download for free at the release. However, they aren’t compulsory to use.

Mini-game featuring in the Ishin remake
Like a Dragon Ishin’s trailer reveals several familiar and exclusive mini-games. This includes a Buyo Dancing rhythm game, a betting chicken race, fishing, and even Rock, Paper, Scissors.
- The game will also feature numerous classic Japanese card and dice games– Koi-Koi, Cho-Han, and Oicho-Kabu. Players will be able to slash cannonballs with Ryoma’s sword, participate in a sake-drinking contest, and even run an Udon Shop.
- One of the interesting mini-game is a period version of karaoke with translated lyrics for fans to follow along and even sing if desired.
