State of Play 2023: What we know so far

The PlayStation 5 has many hits lined up for 2023, and there have been a lot of rumors swirling around. People believe that they’ll be doing the State of Play event sooner rather than later. The platform’s first big release will happen late in January with the launch of timed exclusive Forspoken. Other than that, Sony is planning several big releases, both on hardware and upcoming video games. Here is everything we know so far about the State of Play 2023.

It’s a Guarantee

State of Play is guaranteed at this point, as it is the premiere event Sony has annually. It’s one of the reasons why the company left E3 to create an event that focuses more on them. Last year we saw promotions for God of War: Ragnarok and some teases for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The current belief in the online crowd is that it will occur sometime in early February and March.

We’ve yet to see an announcement, but they do clarify the dates of these events a few weeks before. We should clear pictures of Sony’s plans as the weeks pass.

PSVR2

One of the biggest releases for the PS5 this year is the all-new PSVR2 which promises numerous enhancements from its predecessor. With PS exclusives like Horizon now making VR content, Sony likely wants to spearhead a new gaming revolution. It’s a good start, and the gaming world will step into a new era of VR gaming.

The State of Play 2023 may preview more details of this new gadget along with its price and release date. Maybe we even get a new VR trailer, though it is unlikely.

Details on Upcoming Exclusives

The biggest thing about the State of Play 2023 is that it showcases many highly anticipated PS5 exclusives. One of the most anticipated things gamers want to see is a trailer for Spider 2, along with additional details. Based on the last trailer, we’ll finally see Miles and Peter team up. Not only that, but they will face some fan-favorite villains such as Kraven and Venom.

Wolverine is also possible though it’s unlikely to have any new content revealed this year. There’s also Death Stranding 2, though the recent reveal at the Game Awards 2022 means we might not be getting more information from it this time.

PlayStation did release a blog post about anticipated games in 2023, which may give us an idea of what they want to feature in the State of Play 2023. It’s possible to see more information about games like:

  • Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
  • Resident Evil 4 Remake
  • Assassin’s Creed Mirage
  • Final Fantasy XVI
  • Alone in the Dark

We can also look at the rumor mill to see some of the games possibly in development. While there are no confirmations yet, State of Play 2023 may surprise us through:

  • A new Horizon game
  • The Last of Us 3
  • Ghost of Tsushima 2
  • A new InFamous entry
  • A new Killzone entry
  • An entirely new IP
