Star Wars: The Old Republic Expansion Delayed

The release of the Legacy of Sith expansion has been postponed. The game’s director, Keith Kanneg confirmed that Legacy of the Sith has been postponed till the 15th of February, 2022. This announcement arrives despite the previously slated launch dates of December 14.

Kanneg mentioned that the majority of the game expansion’s non-story content and features will return to the game’s public test servers. This is applicable only for the subscribers and it will be available from later this week. However, given that the expansion’s previous release date was just revealed last month, fans will be disappointed.

“Like many of you reading this, I personally cannot wait for the launch of our next expansion. I’ve greatly enjoyed my time exploring the depths of Manaan, testing out new story and ability combinations with Combat Styles, and more during internal playtests. Legacy of the Sith is something the team has been hard at work on for quite a while but as we get ever closer to launch, it is clear that we need a bit more time. We’re focusing additional testing on the many areas we have changed throughout the game to deliver the experience we want, and one that you deserve.”

THE EXPANSION

  • Legacy of the Sith was first announced earlier this year. BioWare announced during the unveiling that the expansion would continue the tale of The Old Republic. Players will have to track down Darth Malagus while exploring a number of new worlds.
  • The update will also include a number of new game advancements. This includes new fighting styles that will “extend player options” and a variety of new quality of life changes.
  • EA has plans to continue collaborating and working with Lucasfilm Games on upcoming projects in the universe of Star Wars. Other companies have put extreme effort into titles that stem from this very franchise.
  • Initially, Ubisoft made an announcement that they are working on a “story-driven, open-world Star Wars game”. But rumors have also been going around that links “Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dream to its own Star Wars project”.
