Star Wars: Top 3 Clues that Cal Kestis Will Join Ahsoka Season 2

The first season of Ahsoka already dropped several possible connections to the larger Star Wars Universe, including the popular EA video games. Not surprisingly, the Disney+ series made several references to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, teasing the possible arrival of another familiar face. So, how did the show tease the live-action debut of Cal Kestis in Ahsoka Season 2?

One of the best things about Ahsoka is its tendency to litter its episodes with numerous references and Easter Eggs to everything Star Wars, from the original film trilogy to the animated shows where Ahsoka Tano made her debut. Not surprisingly, these teases were viewed as major clues about the main storyline, and fans believe they are slowly building up for the arrival of Cal Kestis in the second season.

But First Things First … Who is Cal Kestis?

Cal Kestis was a Force-sensitive boy who achieved the rank of Jedi Knight during the oppressive rule of the Galactic Empire. After the brutal purge known as Order 66 nearly annihilated the Jedi Order, Kestis was one of the rare survivors. For a prolonged period, he concealed his identity, dwelling in isolation in the world of Bracca. However, a fateful encounter with the Inquisitorius forced him to emerge from obscurity and openly oppose the Empire’s authoritarian regime. With the Empire’s relentless Jedi hunters hot on his trail, Kestis rekindled his connection to the Force, resolute in his mission to reestablish the Jedi Order. He is the main protagonist in the Star Wars Jedi titles developed by Respawn and EA.

If Cal’s story sounds familiar, that’s because it’s fairly similar to one particular Jedi. People all know that Ahsoka Tano was just a former Padawan who managed to survive Order 66. The similarities between Ahsoka and Cal Kestis have already led to several fan theories about the latter being introduced in Ahsoka Season 2, and they even have some clues to back up the claim.

Psychometry

Ahsoka Tano had a new trick up her sleeve when she took the broken star map and used it to discover what happened to Sabine Wren. Sure, it’s new to live-action, but fans have seen it all before while playing Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. In the game, Cal Kestis repeatedly uses Psychometry to find Force echoes in objects.

Is it possible that Cal taught this to Ahsoka? It’s unlikely, considering this might be one of the standard lessons of the Jedi Order. Still, it might confirm that the two learned to use Psychometry under one Jedi Master.

The Nightsisters and Zeffonian Connection

Ahsoka already provided some iconic Star Wars figures with their live-action debut. The Nightsisters of Dathomir, who were once only featured in the animated show and the EA titles, were finally introduced and immediately made a lasting impact on the fandom. The presence of the Great Mothers on Peridea confirmed that the Dathomiri came from a different galaxy for some unknown reason. But the important thing is, nobody seems to know so much about them like Cal Kestis.

In the games, Cal starts a relationship with the Nightsister Merrin despite his Jedi teachings. While this is against what he was taught, it also allowed Cal to learn more about the Nightsisters and their home world. And speaking of that…

Dathomir

The one thing that the Star Wars Jedi titles boast of is the constant visits to Dathomir. It’s familiar territory for Cal Kestis at this point, so nobody would be surprised if they find him there. But with Grand Admiral Thrawn headed for the planet with the Great Mothers, fans are presented with the possibility that Ahsoka Season 2 will finally give Cal the live-action debut he deserves.

For now, Ahsoka has not yet been renewed for a second season, although Season 2 is already in consideration by Lucasfilm and Disney. The first season is currently streaming on Disney+.
