The film Hunt is the directorial debut of Squid Game famed Lee Jung-Jae. Similar to his character in the series, he has left no stone unturned to win the directorial game. According to The New York Times, this espionage film reminds people of the suspenseful works of British novelist John le Carré. It is no wonder that the film has received positive acclaim from critics.

Synopsis 

Hunt depicts fictionalized 1980s Korea facing a political apocalypse as the president of the nation is assassinated. This chaos raises the threat of a North Korean invasion, therefore the Chief of security, Park Pyong-Ho (Lee Jung-Jae), and Kim Jung-Ho (Jung Woo-Sung) must hunt the spies threatening political security.

  • This film has received praise for its unpredictable plot, psychological conflicts that raise tension in the story, bloody-grotesque action sequences, and wry sense of humor. It also features two scenes paying homage to Alfonso Cuaron’s “Roma” and Ben Affleck’s “Argo” by debuting director Lee Jung-Jae.
