Sony Says PS5 Price Is Yet To Be Decided

Another day, another PS5 news. While the intense wait for PS5 continues to grow, we have got some information about the price of the PS5. Not information, technically, but atleast we have got to know that Sony hasn’t decided the price yet. That, nullifies all the rumors which claimed the price of the PS5.

In the company’s third quarter earnings call on Tuesday, chief financial officer Hiroki Totoki said that Sony is yet to decide the pricing of the PS5. He says “What is not very clear or visible is because we are competing in the space, so it’s very difficult to discuss anything about the price at this point of time, and depending upon the price level, we may have to determine the promotion that we are going to deploy and how much costs we are prepared to pay.”

Speaking of the costs involved, he adds “First, we must absolutely control the labour cost, the personnel cost, it must be controlled, and the initial ramp up, how much can we prepare initially, we will work on the production and the sales and we will have to prepare the right volume as we launch this.”

He goes on to explain how it is an act of balancing out things and “it’s a balancing act it’s very difficult to say anything concrete at this point of time”. That being said, he assures that they will try to incorporate the best approach to achieve “the best balance so that we will be profitable in the life, during the life of this product”.

While Sony hasn’t decided on the price point yet, it is expected that the console will launch around a price of $500. What do you think about the price of the PS5? Let us know in the comments below.
