Everyone’s favorite fast and furry hedgehog, Sonic, is making headlines again with the upcoming game titled Sonic Superstars. The game is staying true to its roots, offering all the bells and whistles of the classic formula. But at the same time, it is also getting a visual overhaul with fresh and vibrant modern day 3D graphics. Sonic Superstars has also managed to excite the fans with its nostalgic and simple local co-op support. We will be explaining about it in detail along with the various characters you can control and encounter in the game.
Sonic Superstars: Characters in the game
Playable Characters
Sonic Superstars will feature four classic and familiar characters that you can play as. They are the following:
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic the Hedgehog is the central protagonist and the face of the game. This blue and spiky character is always ready to dismantle Doctor Eggman’s evil schemes.
- He uses his super speed to swiftly breeze through the in-game world while collecting rings and overcoming challenges.
- As for his ability, Sonic is able to curl up into a ball and launch an attack whenever the situation calls for it.
Miles Prower (Tails)
Miles Prower aka Tails is an adorable fox who is treated like a younger brother by the hedgehog. He is happy to assist Sonic in their journey at all times.
- Similar to Sonic, he fights for justice against the various villains found within the game.
- Tails has the unique ability to glide through the air by using his tail like a rotor. According to the story, he is also a talented mechanic and pilot.
Knuckles the Echidna
Knuckles the Echidna is Sonic’s trusty partner who shares similar traits with him. His appearance is identical to Sonic, but he is colored in red instead of blue.
- Knuckles can curl up into a ball along with additional powers.
- His brawny physique allows him to lift and punch through heavy objects and he is also able to make a short glide through air.
- Knuckles can climb up and down the wall as well.
Amy Rose
Amy Rose is portrayed as Sonic’s romantic interest in the game, although she often fails to sway him.
- She is an energetic character who, surprisingly, lacks any innate abilities unlike the others.
- Instead, Amy relies on her Piko Piko hammer and uses it to progress through the game.
Non-Playable Characters (Antagonists)
The game features three adversaries who will make your life difficult as a player. They are:
- Doctor Eggman
- Fang the Hunter
- Trip
Sonic Superstars: Local Co-Op Feature

Sonic Superstars has ditched the current trend of online multiplayer and instead went for a local co-op system. Just like the good old days of couch co-op, you will be able to enjoy the game as a group of four.
The co-op mode will also have a drop-in/drop-out feature where a player can freely exit or join the game during an ongoing session.
- Playing multiplayer is going to be a vastly different experience than solo when you will combine the powers of the characters and cooperate with each other to overcome the hurdles within a stage.
- However, all the members within the group will have to keep up the pace with each other for the optimal experience.
