An astonishing end
Scalebound, an action RPG which was set to be developed by PlatinumGames with Microsoft Studios publishing the title for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One has been officially cancelled today.
A Microsoft representative said to IGN –
“After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for Scalebound. We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and other great experiences.”
IGN asked if Scalebound is owned by Microsoft or by the developer Platinum, but the Microsoft representative simply denied the question by saying “we do not comment on the details of our business agreements with partners”.
If you’re unaware of what Scalebound is, it is a cancelled action RPG that was originally announced in E3 2014 and planned for a holiday 2016 release. Last year, the developers delayed the release to 2017 “in order to deliver on our ambitious vision and ensure that Scalebound lives up to expectations”.
Surely, PlatinumGames didn’t expect their project to be cancelled, but there must have been some inconvenience between the publisher and the developer because of which, the outcome was a disappointment.
