Akira Toriyama, known for Dragon Ball, is a name cherished by shonen fans. His work has spawned a generation of Japanese pop-culture enthusiasts, with many millennials recalling Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z as their first anime experience.
Sand Land Anime movie Release date
The Sand Land film’s official website revealed a new trailer, along with the main voice cast and staff details on April 3, 2023. The anime will release in theaters in Japan on August 18, 2023. It is unknown when it will release in the West at this time.
Sand Land is getting its first-ever CGI anime adaptation, retelling the story in a visual medium. The film’s visual style seems similar to Dragon Ball Super: Superhero.

What is the plot of Sand Land anime?
The story unfolds in a bleak dystopian future, where the entire Earth has been ravaged by war, leaving behind nothing but a desolate and sandy wasteland. A greedy and selfish king controls the water supply of this land, leaving the population begging for basic needs.
In desperate times, Sheriff Rao embarks on a quest to locate a long-lost lake and seeks assistance from the king of demons. The demon king sends his son Beelzebub and his assistant, Thief, to handle the situation.
How similar is Beelzebub to Goku as a character?
- Though created by the same person, Beelzebub, and Goku have no similarities. While one embodies brightness and joy, the other is the literal offspring of the king of demons.
- Nevertheless, we hold equal affection for both characters, and I eagerly anticipate the plans that Toriyama and Bandai Namco have in store for this project.
Sand Land anime Cast and Staff
Sunrise, Kamikaze Douga, and Anima are collaborating as co-producers for the film, with Toshihisa Yokoshima serving as director. Hayashi Mori is in charge of the script, while Yugo Kanno is composing the music.
The 14 chapters of the series, collected into one tankobon volume, were, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from May 22 to August 28, 2000.
