What is next for Running Man after Jeon So Min's exit

Actress Jeon So Min recently resigned from her permanent position on the popular Korean Variety show Running Man after six successful years. Soon after viewers started to speculate who would fill the vacant seat as the impact of her resignation is bound to affect the show. On the other hand, it is difficult to settle upon a suitable successor due to her impressive presence in each episode. To relieve the curiosity of fans SBS has finally released a statement clarifying what they plan to do next on the show.

SBS Announces Plans After Another Cast Member’s Departure

On October 23, King Kong by Starship and SBS confirmed that the actress is going to leave the variety show to rest and prepare for better performances ahead in her career. She might also reappear on screens after taking a long break from acting.

Following this bittersweet announcement fans of Running Man started to speculate who will fill the gap. Previously, So Min also joined the show after Rapper Gary departed. However, SBS has announced that they are in no haste to sign any new permanent cast member.

Instead, staying true to the show’s theme they plan to invite more diverse guests for the time being. They also shared that they took this decision to observe the audience’s reactions, and guests’ chemistry with the other cast members, and later decide if they should continue with the existing hosts or add a new face to the ensemble.

Should Running Man find a successor for So Min?

Running Man currently includes Yoo Jae-seok, Seok-Jin, HAHA, Kim Jong-guk, Song Ji-hyo, and Yang Se-chan as the hosts which is plenty for an entertaining show. However, after the news of Jeon So Min’s exit netizens began to list the possible successors of the star.

The list included K-pop singers such as Kim Se-jeong, Yoon Bomi, MAMAMOO Solar, Red Velvet Joy, GFRIEND Yerin, IVE Ahn Yu Jin, and more. They also speculated that Lee Mijoo who is becoming a staple of Korean variety shows for her outspoken personality might join Running Man.

Additionally, they listed some male contestants that they would like to see on the show including Kwanghee, SEVENTEEN Boo Seungkwan, BTOB Seo Eunkwang, actor Lee Yikyung (Welcome To Waikiki), and actor model Joo Woo-Jae (Strong Girl Nam Soon).

As Running Man has a legacy of overcoming hurdles and continuing to secure their place as one of the best Korean variety shows they are bound to figure out a suitable solution. Currently, it is too soon to find a success for Jeon So Min due to her irreplaceable impact but after a few months, SBS might include a new face to the current lineup to spice things up.
