A Super Mario Bros. game coming
It’s been years since the release of Super Mario Odyssey, so a lot of rumors circulating here and there. Despite all of it, Nintendo leaves no official announcement or confirmation of it.
- In 2021, the leak of a new Super Mario game arise because of a job listing on NDcube. This rumor happened to be quickly debunked as Mario Party Superstars came in the same year.
- Significantly, the most recent rumor of the franchise came to Mario fans late last year. This time, things may have turned more specific as an apparent 2D Super Mario game bounds to arrive.
- Zippo, a known leaker of Nintendo-related news, dropped this rumor in December 2022. In a blog post update, they shared about the game’s nearing the end of the development process. The said Super Mario game happened to be three years in the making, he stated in the post.
- Another 2D game that would be playable on the handheld Nintendo Switch device. They revealed more information about four playable characters in the upcoming Super Mario game. Ol’ and behold, not just Mario, but Luigi, Peach, and Toad join the plumber to be playable characters.
- Believe it or not, if Peach is one of the four playable, then this should be her first time after a long, long while. The last time the character can be played was Super Mario Bros. 2 which happens to be 35 years ago.
Release date and developers
Zippo gave all the important information in their blog post last year. They mentioned that the Super Mario game sets its release this year, 2023, or next year, 2024.

- Zippo pointed out how the characters’ appearances may be tweaked in the upcoming film. They said that Mario’s shoelaces possibly have changed in the production of the movie. Moreover, we have to hold our excitement until Nintendo officially announces this rumored Super Mario Bros. game.
