Rumor: Call of Duty May Offer Subscription Service

Call of Duty - Website

Eagle-eyed Call of Duty fans saw a new job posting for Activision. The description of the job posting seems to be hinting at a Call of Duty subscription service. Read more about it below.

Activision is looking for someone to fill the role of Manager and Influencer Marketing

First reported by charlieINTEL, the job posting for Call of Duty indicated that has a “line up of innovations in curated player experiences”. But the key phrase used in this job posting was someone who had experience in “subscription-based content”. Though not much information was included in the job posting, it was enough for fans to speculate how the Call of Duty subscription service was going to work.

In the past, there were already talks about a potential Call of Duty subscription service. There are players who feel that should the game have its own subscription service, it may look similar to the Fortnite Crew Subscription. On the other hand, some think this potential subscription service from Activision is similar to the Xbox Game Pass.

But previous talks about a Call of Duty subscription surface mentioned something about a 6-month/12-month Battle Pass for their game. Other information about this Battle Pass service was if players availed of the 12-month option, they would have access to a new Call of Duty title.

Subscription services in major gaming companies seem to be the new trend

Other than the Fortnite Crew Subscription, many other gaming companies have turned to offer this type of service to their players. It’ll be exciting to see how Activision pulls this off. But what is more interesting is if they’ll take inspiration from the Xbox Game Pass and the new PlayStation Plus.

As of writing, the job posting has been taken down from Activision’s Career page.
